By Billy Hull on October 30, 2015

The time for talking is over. The top two teams in the OIA all season collide Friday night at Aloha Stadium as No. 2 Kahuku faces No. 3 Mililani for the OIA D-I title. The Red Raiders had never lost to the Trojans until 2013, when Mililani beat Kahuku in the OIA semifinals. A year later, the Trojans were better than the Red Raiders again, winning the OIA title by a 20-7 margin. As pointed out here Friday, if the […]

By Billy Hull on October 30, 2015

The OIA Division II title game between No. 9 Radford and Kaimuki is a rematch of a game earlier this season the Rams won 48-0. A lot has happened since then, however, as the Bulldogs have rattled off six consecutive wins, including a last-second shocker at Nanakuli two weeks ago. Radford last played for the OIA Division II title in 2012 when it beat Nanakuli 21-6. Kaimuki is in the OIA title game for the first time since 2010 when […]

Punahou won the recent regular season event with 342.75 points over Kamehameha, which had 331.25. Pac-Five was third with 318. The Warriors won […]

Best ever vs. best ever for OIA title

By Jerry Campany on October 29, 2015

Something has got to give. As pointed out in Friday’s Honolulu Star-Advertiser story by Paul Honda, the OIA championship game pits teams that are in position to be the best ever at scoring and preventing points. Mililani has averaged 56.5 points per game this year, better than any program since the Prep Bowl era began in 1973. Sure, the Trojans had their share of cupcakes, but Saint Louis got fat on Damien and Pac-Five. Same for Kahuku, giving up only […]

Kamehameha’s Peleras is vital cog

By Nick Abramo on October 29, 2015

Shiloh Peleras is a weapon in the middle for the Kamehameha girls volleyball team. Warriors coach Chris Blake smiled and nodded approvingly when a media member called the senior “a weapon and a half” after Thursday night’s 3-0 sweep of third-seeded King Kekaulike in the quarterfinals of the Division I state tournament. “She’s real physical,” Blake said. “Our middles Shiloh and (senior) Brooke Ka‘awa have to be watched (by the opponents). They give our team that option (in the middle) […]
