Kapolei defensive lineman Kingston Fernandez has committed to play football for Washington State, according to Hurricanes coach Darren Hernandez. Fernandez also had offers from Arizona State, Cal, Colorado and several Mountain West Conference schools. He amassed 17 sacks this season. Kapolei offensive lineman Micah Kapoi has committed to play football for the University of Wisconsin. Hurricanes coach Darren Hernandez confirmed the announcement by phone on Sunday night. “Micah committed to play center/guard for the Wisconsin Badgers of the Big Ten. He is looking to major in business and was very impressed by their business school,” Hernandez wrote on his Facebook page. Kapoi, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound senior, also plays basketball.

Kapolei’s Kalani Vakameilalo has gotten the letters and phone calls. He’s nearly an NCAA Clearinghouse qualifier, which is good news for more than 10 colleges that want his services as a football player. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive tackle is on the board as a target at schools in the Mountain West and all the way to the East Coast.
