By Paul Honda on July 26, 2019

Every year, numbers are low, but the Kaimuki Bulldogs find a way to make success happen. The Bulldogs suited up roughly two dozen players on Thursday, and came away from a tri-scrimmage with Campbell and Damien with plenty of material to work with. Asuega-Fualaau, who rushed for 970 yards and 14 TDs last season, was […]

Here, in view of Diamond Crater, is some breathing room for the Kaimuki Bulldogs.
Playing with as few as 23 players in the 2018 season, Kaimuki managed to qualify for the state football tournament. The Bulldogs won at Kamehameha-Hawaii, then lost in a close battle against Kapaa at Vidinha Stadium in Lihue. Their All-State two-way lineman, Sama Paama, suffered a knee injury on Kaimuki’s final offensive play.
Had Kaimuki won that Division II semifinal, there would’ve been a title […]

By Paul Honda on December 19, 2018

Like most everything in the life of young Sama Paama, there was no doubt. The Kaimuki senior signed his letter of intent this morning to accept a football scholarship from Washington. The 6-foot-4, 335-pound lineman is being recruited by the Huskies on defense. Paama played his career as a two-way trench man, and part-time kicker as Kaimuki reached the Division II state semifinals. Paama, who was named to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State first team on Sunday, committed to the Huskies […]

It’s time to start considering whether David Tautofi is the best coach the Kaimuki Bulldogs have ever had. After his fourth season, Tautofi is the only coach to put four winning seasons together and has compiled a 27-16 record to nuzzle up against Lowell Cambra (36-37-1) as the second-winningest coach in Kaimuki history. Tautofi took it to the next level this year, winning 10 games for the first time since Clint Onigama‘s squad won 12 in 2010. Tautofi’s boys actually […]
