Kaimuki junior QB Jayden Maiava heading to Elite 11

By Paul Honda on October 12, 2020

The Elite 11 regional in Portland, Ore. is not common territory. Jayden Maiava of Kaimuki is hoping to expand his scope. The 6-foot-5, 222-pound junior will travel to the Oct. 25 event with Campbell junior Blaine Hipa. Their personal coach, Keli‘i Tilton, will accompany them. “The exciting […]

By Jerry Campany on September 28, 2020

The Buffanblu were outgained 306-67 but still managed to beat Kaimuki 13-12 on this date in 1962 at Honolulu Stadium. Future Star-Bulletin sports editor Bill Kwon and Punahou coach Dave Eldredge called it luck. Charley Wedemeyer‘s and Clint Albao‘s presence made it anything but. Wedemeyer took the opening kickoff 84 yards for a score and the […]

Michael Taamilo was a beast for Kaimuki against Kahuku’s formidible offense. He had three tackles for losses and helped hold quarterback Lane Santiago to 32 passing yards and […]
