It has been some time since a Kaiser-Kaimuki showdown carried this much weight. Or hunger. Kaimuki has enjoyed the fruit of its collective labor, succeeding in OIA Division II. It was enough that the OIA rules had the Bulldogs moving up to D-I after the 2018 season, but Kaimuki and its small enrollment/roster size remained in D-II. >> CLICK HERE TO READ TODAY’S GAME PREVIEW Kaiser’s pendulum of success and struggle over the past four decades is on the upswing […]

By Noelle Kakimoto on September 8, 2019

The Kaimuki Bulldogs may have added their fourth victory out of five games following their 27-7 win over Nanakuli on Saturday night at Skippa Diaz Stadium, but they’re not settling down yet. The Bulldogs showed up with confidence as sophomore QB Jayden Maiava ran a 29-yard keeper into the end zone for the team’s first score at the 10-minute mark. Despite Nanakuli senior QB Sedric Crawford’s game-tying touchdown late in the first quarter, the Golden Hawks offense wouldn’t see the […]

Q&A: Kaimuki’s ‘Beast Mode’ bruiser, Naomas Asuega-Fualaau

By Paul Honda on September 3, 2019

Given the choice between diverting away from collisions or initiating contact, football player/wrestler/boxer/judoka Naomas Asuega-Fualaau prefers to treat defenders like bowling pins. Kaimuki’s senior running back/safety is off to a strong start, as is the case with his teammates. The Bulldogs are coming off a 61-7 win at Waialua and are now 2-0 in OIA Division II play (3-1 overall). In four games, he has rushed for 546 yards and four TDs on 60 carries. Quite a shift from his […]

Jayden Maiava on point with 6 TDs in Kaimuki’s win over Waialua

In a surprisingly easy 61-7 rout of Waialua at Toshi Nakasone Field, the Bulldogs racked up seven sacks and scored two defensive touchdowns — both a first this season. One of the defensive TDs was scored by steady two-way lineman Tasi Komiti on a fumble recovery in the end zone that extended the visitors’ lead to 41 points. Kaimuki is now 2-0 in OIA Division II […]
