Asuega-Fualaau goes over the century mark with 102 yards on 31 carries.

Perreira’s pass is picked off by Williams, who returns it 56 yards to the Kaiser 36. He went to the middle instead of the sideline, or he would have scored. This is over. Kaimuki ball with 1:37 left and Kaiser has no time outs. But the Cougars did have many chances.

Kaimuki takes over on its 17, 2:58 left. Asuega-Fualaau gains 4 yards, time out, Kaiser, 2:51 left. Cougars have one time out left. Two procedure calls against Kaimuki. Asuega-Fualaau is in the jumbo set as the wildcat QB, gains eight yards. Time out, Kaiser, 2:43 left. Asuega-Fualaau has 30 carries for 91 yards. Moananu at QB, tap pass to Kaluna for 3 yards. Kaimuki punts, no. Time out. Coach David Tautofi probably making sure his punter kicks it out of bounds. Punter, Faasoa, is ambushed, no way to punt and he’s sacked at the 15. Kaiser ball. It’s not over with 1:49 left.

Kaiser has had three possessions since Kaimuki missed the PAT. Fumble, punt and now fourth-and-20 from the Kaiser 35. Time out, Cougars, with 3:33 left. If they have any hope, they need to convert this. WOAH NELLY, Falls is falling backward and hauls in a 40-yard bomb at the Kaimuki 25. Next crucial play, fourth and 8 at the 23. Complete to Falls, but he’s short of the first-down stick, a 5-yard gain. Kaimuki ball, 2:58 left.

Moananu, at safety, strips the ball from Lynch after a seven-yard gain on a pass. Williams returns the ball to the Kaiser 20. Kaimuki comes up empty, however. Kawamoto’s 35-yard FG try is wide left. Kaiser still within two scores with 7:12 left.

Kaimuki begins at its 48, beautiful fake screen wide and a quick pass to the middle from Maiava to Kaluna. That’s a 40-yard gain, but it’s called back for illegal procedure. The third quarter ends with Kaimuki at the Kaiser 44. Asuega-Fualaau gains six on third down for a first down. That’s 69 tough yards in 23 carries for Asuega-Fualaau. Kaluna with a diving catch for 16 yards and he’s hurting, but OK. Maiava’s lob to the right corner finds Moananu, a 20-yard TD. PAT kick misses. Kaiser still within two scores. KAIMUKI 33, KAISER 17, Q4, 9:35.

On-side kick surprises Kaimuki, but three Cougars miss a chance to grab the football as a single Kaimuki player manages to corral the ball as it bounces off him. Injury time out with 1:40 left in the third. OK, it’s Taufa, who scored the first TD of the game, and now recovers the on-side. Great hands. He’s able to walk back to the sideline with trainers.

Kaiser gets a 30-yard kick return by Mason Yoshino, then goes into hyper-speed mode with its hurry-up. Kaimuki’s iron men looking a bit tired now, and Kaiser gashes through the gaps with RB Calvin Lime, then Lynch. Yoshino with a spectacular diving catch on the post route for 19 yards to the Kaimuki 4. Time out, Kaimuki. They’re exhausted. Next play, Perreira to Yoshino, 4-yard TD. That was smooth. KAIMUKI 27, KAISER 17, Q3, 1:40.

Kaimuki happy to hand the ball to their Beast Mode, Asuega-Fualaau, against a seven-man front. Maiava to Moananu for first down. Asuega-Fualaau picks up two first downs and the Bulldogs are marching, eating the clock. Kaimuki goes double tight end and Maiava launches a 30-yard bomb to Moananu against tight coverage. That’s a perfectly thrown ball, lots of air under it, easily Maiava’s best throw of the night. Touchdown. KAIMUKI 27, KAISER 10, Q3, 4:28.

Perreira heaves a long pass down the middle and it’s picked off by Moananu, who returns it past midfield, fumbles, but Tanioka recovers for Kaimuki. Tanioka is Johnny on the Spot tonight.

Opening kickoff of the second half, Kaiser’s Halvorson kicks it out of bounds. Maiava to Kaluna, 26 yards. Maiava to Faasoa, 25 more, ball at the Kaiser 7. Then it’s two runs against a heavy box and an incomplete pass. Looked like it would’ve been a lob, but it was a bullet over Moananu’s head near the goal line. Kawamoto’s 24-yard FG is good. KAIMUKI 20, KAISER 10, Q3, 9:31.

Kaiser runs two plays and the half comes to an end tied at 10.

Asuega-Fualaau was swarmed early on, and now he is in beast mode. He tears off a long run, but it’s called back by holding, and we are guessing there was an unsportsmanlike conduct call because officials marked of 25 yards. No explanation on the second penalty. That’s not the first time tonight there’s NO EXPLANATION. Kaimuki punts with a minute left in the first half, snap nearly goes over Kawamoto’s head, but he salvages a low kick, and it rolls and rolls and rolls to the Kaiser 5.

Perreira looks sharp when he has time and steps into his throw. A 20-yard strike on another post route, this one to Mason Yoshino, moves the ball to the 40. But on the next play, Moananu makes a diving interception near midfield. WOH.

Kaimuki drives 46 yards in six plays, getting a 23-yard screen pass to Kaluna. Third and 1, Maiava finds Moananu in the right corner for a 13-yard TD. KAIMUKI 17, KAISER 10, Q2, 2:24.

Third and 15, Perreira with a beautiful strike on another post by Falls, but it falls off his chest. Kaiser punts into the wind, ball downed at its 46.

Kaulana Kaluna with a 65-yard kick return to the Kaiser 32. Kaiser brings the heat, but Maiava doesn’t have anyone who can go deep against one-on-one coverage, no deep safety. Receivers are playing both ways and look gassed. Kawamoto’s 47-yard FG attempt has the distance, but is wide left. Touchback, Kaiser ball at its 20.

Kaimuki comes up empty despite very good field position, punt. Kaiser ball at its 4 after committing an illegal block penalty. Third and 3, Perreira hunts in the deep post area again and finds Dre Falls, who slices through and sprints home for an 89-yard TD. WOW. KAISER 10, KAIMUKI 10, Q2, 6:53.

Kaiser has a drop on third down, but Kaimuki commits a roughing-the-punter penalty. Perreira looks more settled in, taking his time with a light pass rush. His post pass is off the hands of a diving receiver, and into the hands of Kaimuki DB Avin Tanioka. Kaimuki ball at its 49.

Maiava finds Kobe Moananu deep out on the right, and he breaks away for a 63-yard gain to the Kaiser 20. Huge pickup. Fourth and 11 at the 18, Kaimuki sends out the kicking team. Kurt Kawamoto has the wind at his back and rips it through the uprights, good. KAIMUKI 10, KAISER 3, Q2, 9:58.

Kaiser’s first play on its fourth series is a completion to Mason Yoshino for a loss of 10 yards. I don’t know if that’s right. Forward progress should’ve ended that play after minus-5. Kaiser punts again, Kaimuki ball at its 22. The quarter ends with Kaimuki at its 17.

The back-foot passing of Perreira leads to a lob and a pick by Kaimuki. Matt Williams returns it 22 yards to the 39. Kaimuki has fourth and 8 at the 37, the sideline is yelling to hurry, and Jayden Maiava lofts a spiral to a wide open Sione Taufa, touchdown. KAIMUKI 7, KAISER 3, Q1, 1:49.

Kaiser goes three-and-out, all incompletions. Punt is out at the Kaimuki 46. Bulldogs go three-and-out. Cougars have six to seven in the box and they’re stuffing RB Naomas Asuega-Fualaau. It’s bombs or nothing so far for Kaimuki.

Bulldogs drive to the 28 of Kaiser and stall. Two sacks by Kaiser and Kaimuki punts. Touchback.

Cougars march downfield quickly. Brock Perreira has the start with Yoshino out. His second pass is nearly a pick-6, a quick pass try to Kamakana Mahiko.

He throws a lot off his back foot, Patrick Mahomes style, and even wears the same number (15). Three completions later, Kaiser caps a nine-play drive with a 32-yard field goal by Kyler Halvorson. KAISER 3, KAIMUKI 0, Q1, 8:54.

Kaiser fumbles the ball near midfield and Kaimuki recovers at its 47. Bulldogs go three-and-out on three incompletions. Punt is out of bounds at the Kaiser 25.

PRE-GAME
6:36 p.m.
Kaiser will receive with the wind at their back. I believe Kaimuki won the toss and will have the wind behind them to end the first and second halves. Huge factor with the wind blowing in over the field from north to south. Major edge, potentially.

6:23 p.m.
It appears in warmups that starting QB Easton Yoshino is not suited up for this playoff showdown. He has been out recently with a concussion, but it looks like Brock Perreira will start. We are 5 minutes from kickoff.
Partly cloudy
Chance of rain: 40%
Temp: 80
Wind: 0-10 mph
