GLORY DAYS: Coach Tim Seaman and the 2019 Kaiser Cougars

By Nick Abramo on July 4, 2019

11TH IN A SERIES This summer, head coaches from all 28 Oahu high school varsity football teams are being asked to recount their football playing days. One coach interviewed for this multi-part series pointed out what he thinks may be the value of this endeavor: “A lot of times, you only hear about coaches when they’re getting released or are having a special season. It’s super hard to have a special season, so this should shed more light on them […]

By Nick Abramo on March 15, 2019

Kaiser football parent Gregory Tartamella‘s lawyer does not know if they will be appealing last Friday’s guilty verdicts in a Circuit Court jury trial. Tartamella will be sentenced May 8 after he was found guilty of second-degree assault, two counts of harassment, and first-degree terroristic threatening. Eric Seitz, his attorney, wants to wait until after sentencing before making a decision on a possible appeal. “If he gets probation — and that’s what we’re hoping for — I would recommend for […]

CLOSING THE BOOK: Kaiser Cougars

By Jerry Campany on October 25, 2018

The Kaiser Cougars have returned to the land of the living. Coach Tim Seaman took over a winless program that played in only one game last year and turned it around with a 4-4-1 record and the No. 4 seed in the OIA Division II playoffs. Knowing Seaman’s history at the school, it isn’t as big of a surprise as it should have been. Seaman took over the same program from Scott Chan in 1993 after a 1-7-1 year and […]

Kaiser beats Pac-Five for first time; playoffs next?

By Billy Hull on October 6, 2018

Friday night marked the first time in the 46-year history of Kaiser football that the Cougars beat Pac-Five. Saturday could bring a playoff berth to a team that played only one game last season. With Pac-Five’s defense bottling up any semblance of a running game by the Cougars, Kaiser quarterback Koa Tom had to go to work in the air for any chance at a victory. The senior did that exactly that, throwing for a career-high 336 yards and four […]
