Iolani punched its ticket to states for the first time since 2007 earlier this year. On Saturday, it added its first ILH title since 2001 with a win over Kamehameha. It touched off a celebration rarely seen in that gym.

Punahou will miss the party

For the first time in more than a decade, the defending state Division I volleyball champion will not get a chance to defend its title on the court. Kamehameha beat Punahou in five sets on Friday night, robbing the Buffanblu of the chance. Punahou started the season No. 1 in the Star-Advertiser’s poll and held the spot for a month before losing to Mililani. All Mililani receiver Kalakaua Timoteo did against Waianae was break his own school record for receiving yards in a game, but if you ask him it all started up front. He hopes the show continues to roll until another championship parade through Trojan town. Timoteo surpassed 2,000 career receiving yards against Waianae to move to seventh on the all-time list.

The defending OIA and state champion Mililani Trojans put their 21-game winning streak against Hawaii teams on the line in Friday night’s second OIA semifinal against the Waianae Seasiders at Aloha Stadium. Saint Louis ranked No. 9 in Pacific region

Saint Louis is ranked No. 9 in the USA Today Pacific region football rankings. The Crusaders (7-1) are getting ready to play in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I championship game against Punahou on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Aloha Stadium. The two teams split two contests so far this year. The Buffanblu (8-1) won the fist time, 51-45, in double overtime. Saint Louis staved off elimination last Saturday by coming back from a 14-0 deficit to beat Punahou. […]
