NBC Sports Radio (1500-AM) will cover up to 26 prep football games this season. Its coverage begins Friday with Aiea playing at Kaiser in Hawaii Kai at 6 p.m. Josh Pacheco will be on the call. Mark Veneri will again handle play-by-play duties for the bulk of the games this season. Spectrum to televise more than 35 prep football games

Spectrum Networks will broadcast more than 35 prep football games this season on OC16, XCast and XCast2. The network will begin its 30th season televising high school football in Hawaii on Friday with the Farrington/Leilehua game. Crusaders’ Botelho makes ESPN 300 list

Saint Louis linebacker Jordan Botelho, who is the No. 1-rated player from Hawaii among the junior class, was listed in the first ESPN 300 recruiting rankings for 2020 released on Friday. Botelho, who is currently 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, was rated as the No. 129 overall prospect and seventh among prospects at outside linebacker. Kapolei, Mililani get work in during shortened scrimmage

The good news is Kapolei and Mililani got to play a long, nearly 90-minute first half in a football scrimmage Saturday night. But there was bad news, too. After a 10-minute break, the teams came onto the field for the second half and the referees were gone. According to bystanders, the referees thought the game was over.
