As expected, the officials tournament shook things up a little bit. Nobody had more of an impact than ‘Iolani’s Jordan Ng, who dropped Lahainaluna’s Christian Balagso from No. 3 with a narrow 4-3 win. Balagso, a two-time state runner up, fought back to take third place but the damage was done. Ng went on to reach the final, where he lost to Kamehameha’s Blaysen Terukina. How the top 10 wrestlers fared over the weekend: BOYS 1. Zack Diamond, Mililani Won 138-pound class at MIT 2. Liam Corbett, Leilehua Went 2-0 at Aiea, pinning Mililani’s William Flynn and Aiea’s Harley Oshiro before forfeiting the final to teammate Lopaka Lono 3. LLook out for Lahainaluna. The Lunas feature three of the top four wrestlers in the preseason pound-for-pound list including three returning state champions. The Alo girls of Kahuku cleaned out their group at the Aiea Invitational on Saturday. Sisters Jocelyn Alo and Sabrina Alo were placed in the same pool (184.9-206 pounds) at the preseason event, and started their first matches at the same time on side-by-side mats. Jocelyn drew Aiea’s Sarah Miner while Sabrina faced Waianae’s Mildred Keopuhiwa, who was fifth at states last year.
