Corbett scored with an escape to make it a one-point deficit. Kamaka needed to hold on to Corbett’s leg for the final 10 seconds, but she let go, and Corbett […]

Officials Tournament brackets feature intriguing matchups

By Billy Hull on December 21, 2017

The second big wrestling event of the season takes place at Leilehua on Friday and Saturday and the Officials Tournament has some exciting matchups in certain brackets. Coordinator Rick Williams cautions that it looks like some wrestlers may have entered the wrong weight classes, so a lot can change on on these brackets before tomorrow morning. But if they hold up, it promises to be quite a show over the next two days. There is a big clash looming in […]

Cabanban headlines boys pound-for-pound rankings

Seniors dominate Hawaii Prep World’s preseason boys pound-for-pound rankings, with nine of the top 10 participating in their final high school season. Only No. 4 Kysen Terukina of Kamehameha, a sophomore, will have more prep wrestling in his future after the state championships. The list begins where it will probably end next year, with Corey Cabanban the class of the state. […]

Kahuku senior Teniya Alo starts the year where she finished it last year, at the top spot. Last season she was the hunter, chasing down Radford’s Angela Peralta and taking her crown late in the […]
