Leilehua girls lead Officials after two rounds

All seeded wrestlers have advanced in the early rounds of the Hawaii Officials Tournament at Leilehua, the majority of them receiving byes.

The Mules lead the girls team scores by a point over Moanalua and Punahou. Leilehua got pins from Savannah Ramos, Kelsie Caminos-Reyes, Mariah Spix and Keahi Paas Basillo.

Shantelle Mangrobang of Leilehua pinned Campbell’s Valarie Sunajo in 15 seconds at 112 pounds.


Kelani Corbett, who is No. 2 in the pound-for-pound, had a bye in the quarters and is still on a collision course with fellow state champion Jackie Fuamatu. Fuamatu also received a bye into the quarters.

Corbett will face Shayna Kamaka of Baldwin tonight while Fuamatu meets Patricia Ching of Moanalua. Kamaka and Ching earned first-round pins in the early action.


Farrington’s Lavenia Fotu is no longer in the 225 bracket, making Tangitenia Niutupuivaha of Kahuku the top seed there.
