Buchanan is McKinley’s starting QB moving forward

McKinley sophomore Alexandria Buchanan made history last month as the first female quarterback to throw a touchdown pass in a varsity game in Hawaii. Honolulu Star-Advertiser columnist Dave Reardon profiled her in a story that ran in today’s newspaper which you can read here. After making history last week, McKinley sophomore quarterback Alexandria Buchanan had quite the lead-up to Saturday’s matchup with Kalani. “It’s pretty crazy. Environmental assessment up next for McKinley

McKinley has a beautiful new football field to practice and scrimmage on. There is also a brand-new rubberized track that will host important track and field meets. But there is no stadium seating and no stadium lights — and thus no home football games. Help may be on the way. McKinley quarterback Alexandria Buchanan, who became the first female to throw a TD pass in a Hawaii high school football game on Saturday, made the top plays segment of ESPN’s SportsCenter tonight. Buchanan started in a 27-26 loss to Kalaheo and finished 7-for-16 for 135 yards with the one TD. Alexandria Buchanan remembers the days that she would sling the old pigskin around with her father when she was little.
