The weekend was nice, so very nice, for brothers Tua and Taulia Tagovailoa. Tua made his first start as a pro on Sunday, leading Miami over the Los Angeles Rams, 28-17. Normally new programs have to work their way into contention, but Darren Hernandez and his Hurricanes reached the top of their league in only their second year of varsity football. The Hurricanes won the OIA White with a 38-21 victory over Radford at John Velasco Stadium. The school was only four years old at the time. On this date in 2013, Kapolei played 12 minutes of nearly perfect football. The Hurricanes scored 35 points in the fourth quarter to beat Leilehua 48-27 at Hugh Yoshida Stadium. The Kapolei football team will play a high school team from Texas this fall, according to Hurricanes coach Darren Hernandez.
