‘It’s official. ‘Iolani will be playing football in ILH Division I next season, Raiders coach Wendell Look confirmed Thursday. Having won multiple ILH and state championships in D-II, the Raiders were required by a new rule to move up to D-II, barring appeal. Radford junior wide receiver Thomas Reid III is on the radar of college football coaches. Ten days ago, Reid received his first scholarship offer, from Hawaii. Today, Nevada, via assistant coach and former UH quarterback Nick Rolovich, became the second university to make an offer to Reid. “I’m just glad Rolo saw it, too,” Radford coach Fred Salanoa texted this afternoon. Lee Leslie, who took over for Reggie Torres last year, went 9-3 with an OIA Red division title. Makekau’s 2nd offer: Hawaii

The University of Hawaii has offered a football scholarship to Keoni-Kordell Makekau. Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance shared the news on its Facebook page this afternoon. The versatile ‘Iolani junior received his first offer on Friday from Washington State. As a wide receiver, he had 49 receptions for 756 yards and seven touchdown catches as the Raiders won the Division II state title. Konawaena hires Uemoto as football coach

Former all-BIIF wide receiver Brad Uemoto has been hired as the new head football coach at Konawaena. Uemoto served as an assistant coach under Cliff Walters for the past four seasons. He graduated from Konawaena in 1997. “I’m excited, yet there’s so much to do with so little time,” Uemoto texted. “I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet.” Uemoto has also coached on the boys basketball staff at Konawaena under Donald Awa.
