Kamehameha safety invited to Polynesian Bowl

Kamehameha defensive back Kalamaku Kuewa has been invited to participate in the 2018 Polynesian Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Aloha Stadium. Kuewa, a 6-foot, 185-pound safety, has intercepted at least one pass in all seven games for the Warriors this season. He also forced a fumble in a 23-12 loss to Saint Louis last Friday and had two picks in the season-opening win against Farrington, returning one 71 yards for a score. Freshmen allowed to play ILH varsity football

If you’ve noticed a freshmen playing on an Interscholastic League of Honolulu football team, your eyes are not deceiving you. The Oahu Interscholastic Association usually plays its Division I football championship on the last weekend in October and sends its teams to the state tournament that runs the first three weekends of November. Noah Williams, a 6-foot-1, 290-pound offensive lineman from Mililani, has been invited to the 2018 Polynesian Bowl. Williams, a third-team All-State selection as a junior, has paved the way to an 8-0 record entering the playoffs for the Trojans, who are tied with Kahuku for No. 2 in the latest Honolulu Star-Advertiser Football Top 10.
