Saint Louis announces Silva as new hoops coach

It’s official. Saint Louis hired Allan Silva as its varsity basebetall coach, Crusaders athletic director Wade Okamura announced Friday. Hawaii Prep World reported on Wednesday that a trusted source close to the situation said Silva would be the next coach at the school, replacing the outgoing Keith Spencer. Along with their work behind the plate, the winning catchers in the Division II semifinals of the DataHouse/HHSAA State Softball Championships helped propel their teams to Friday’s title game with their production in the batters box. In Thursday’s first semifinal, Nanakuli sophomore Kaila Burnett went 4-for-5 and drove in four runs in the Golden Hawks’ 11-2 win over Kamehameha-Hawaii at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. OIA Tennis all stars announced

The Campbell tennis team didn’t have many stars this year, but the one they had was the brightest. Zion Heaven was named the OIA West’s player of the year in voting of coaches on Thursday. Heaven was the only Saber honored on the first and second teams. Mililani took four spots on the first team and Pearl City took two. Aiea had the other one. Motivated by the absence of head coach Ricky Gusman, Nanakuli continued its quest for a third straight Division II state softball title with a 3-1 win over top-seeded Pac-Five at McKinley on Wednesday.
