With all-everything Teshya Alo and Lalelei Mataafa off to greener pastures, there is finally room for someone else at the top of Hawaii Prep World’s first Pound-for-Pound list of the season. Radford’s Angela Peralta is that wrestler going into today’s Officials Tournament, one of many reigning state champs. Pascua leads season’s first boys P4P

With the MIT in the books and Officials starting up Friday, here is Hawaii Prep World’s first boys pound-for-pound rankings for the new season. Iolani’s KJ Pascua trails Corey Cabanban of Saint Louis in state titles, but comes in at No. 1 in the initial list with Campbell’s Micah Tynanes right behind them. The Hawaii Wrestling Officials Association scholarship tournament begins on Friday at Leilehua, and the boys 120 bracket is stacked. That bracket is topped by two-time state champion Corey Cabanban of Saint Louis, who will be going for his second straight Officials title. he will be opposed by No. 2 seed Logan Garcia of Moanalua, No. 3 Triston Santos of Campbell and No. 6 Jayson Pagurayan of Kapolei. JPS to host 2nd Paradise Football Classic

The second annual Paradise Football Classic will be held Jan. 12 and 14 at Aloha Stadium and will be televised by OC-16. It took almost no time at all for Amosa Amosa to go from former head coach at Campbell to offensive coordinator at another OIA powerhouse. Kapolei head coach Darren Hernandez announced on Thursday morning the hiring of Amosa as the Hurricanes’ new offensive coordinator.
