Kahuku a finalist in fans’ spirit contest

The unmatched spirit of Kahuku Red Raider fans is being put to the test. There’s $25,000 of prize money for the school at stake. Varsity Brands is conducting an online contest for finalists Kahuku, Bingham (Utah), Broken Arrow (Okl.) and El Toro (Calif.). Voters must register at the Varsity Brands site and can vote for their favorite school once per day until Mar. 15. Click here to vote.

Sumstine clears up football rule changes

Sorry quarterbacks out there, but you’re not quite as protected as it seemed. Many eyebrows were raised when the NFHS put out a press release last week regarding new rule changes for the 2017 football season. HHSAA Football Officials Coordinator clears up rule changes New rules for high school football recommended by the NFHS Football Rules Committee in January were approved last week and have been put in place for the 2017 season. Three years ago, Mona Fa‘asoa was ready to call it a career after more than a decade as Kaimuki’s esteemed girls basketball coach. The circle of supporters at Kaimuki pulled her back in, and the results were astounding.
