Lee and Jones have discussed leaving ILH

By Nick Abramo on April 19, 2017

It’s still only talk at this point. Cardiac Monarchs in miracle mode

By Paul Honda on April 19, 2017

Three runs in the nick of time, and the Damien Monarchs are defying all doubters. Of course, not a lot of folks thought Damien would be in this position. The Monarchs finished second to St. Francis in the ILH Division II regular season, which meant the Saints got a favorable status in the postseason. Damien not only had to win the ILH D-II tournament, but would have to win two games in a row against St. Francis to claim the […]

By Paul Honda on April 19, 2017

It was a string of missed opportunities by the Saint Louis Crusaders and Kamehameha Warriors on Tuesday night. The ILH baseball tournament title was on the line, a 5-all game, with Saint Louis needing a win to continue its quest for a league title. But they stranded a runner at third base in the top of the fifth against Christian DeJesus, who had replaced starter Kamahao Arita. Kamehameha went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the fifth against Crusaders starter Chase […]

Saint Louis coach Cal Lee and director of athletic programs and development June Jones both confirmed that they are looking for new ways to schedule games in the future if an OIA and ILH merger doesn’t happen. This season, the Crusaders, Punahou and Kamehameha will compete in a three-team ILH Division I league and play each other at least twice and up to as many as five times including the state tournament. As Lee told the Star-Advertiser’s Dave Reardon, “a […]

9 playoff golf holes is a rarity at any level

By Nick Abramo on April 19, 2017

For eight playoff holes, Kaiser’s Malia Nam and Kalani’s Miki Manta went shot for shot and toe to toe at the Turtle Bay Fazio Course on Tuesday. And on the ninth extra hole, there was finally a decision. Nam two-putted from about 25 feet for par and it took Manta three shots to get on to the green on Fazio’s par-3 15th. Despite hitting a fat second-shot from the left of the green, Manta nearly kept it tied. On her […]
