Mililani QB Gabriel lands first D-I offer

Mililani quarterback Dillon Gabriel became the 12th different sophomore to already earn at least one scholarship offer from a Division I school on Monday. The 6-foot, 180-pound lefty-throwing QB for the Trojans announced on Twitter that he received a scholarship offer from coach Ken Niumatalolo at Navy. State judo brackets released

Brackets for the Atlas Insurance Agency/HHSAA Judo State Championships have been released. The one-day event takes place Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center. OIA track: 2 Kaiser girls to compete in college

It’s been quite a ride for two Kaiser girls track and field standouts. The Cougars’ Kristen O’Handley has a scholarship offer from Portland State, and teammate Tommi Hintnaus will walk on to Arizona State. Both were part of Kaiser’s fourth straight OIA team title Saturday at Pearl City’s brand-new track. Hawaii Football Combine coming up May 20

Spring high school sports isn’t only about the various state tournaments going on. It’s also about football combines and spring football drills. Kenny Patton, the former University of Hawaii defensive back and now a fitness instructor specializing in football, will be holding the Hawaii Football Combine on May 20 at Saint Louis School. Kapolei defensive ends get D-I college offers

Two Kapolei defensive ends recently received Division I college football offers, according to Hurricanes coach Darren Hernandez. Kukea Emmsley, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound senior-to-be, got an offer from Air Force. Treven Ma’ae, a 6-4, 220-pound junior-to-be who had six sacks last season, received an offer from Navy. “They are probably the best pair of DE’s we’ve had in a while,” Hernandez texted on Sunday night. Brackets and seedings for the New City Nissan/HHSAA Boys Volleyball State Championships were released on Saturday night. In Division I, ILH powerhouse Punahou remains the top seed in the state with a 15-0 record, while BIIF champion Kamehameha-Hawaii claimed the No. 2 seed.
