As the 2017 Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s football All-State team release draws near, periodically we are going to ask a spreadsheet to generate a random number between 1947 and 2016. Whichever year pops up, we will post that season’s all-star pages here. What a difference one year can make for the Farrington Governors. Once one of the youngest lineups in the OIA, Farrington was fully equipped to control the tempo once again, racing past Mililani 68-52 on Wednesday night at Kitamura Fieldhouse. Reymar Morales led the way with 19 points and Ehzikiel Santiago added 15 for the Governors, now 4-3 in nonconference play. Using a three-quarter press, the Govs were opportunistic and leapt to a 20-8 lead in the second quarter. The […]

By Paul Honda on December 5, 2017

It’s a remarkable feat, really, that the Punahou Buffanblu won seven of their eight nonconference games. There’s a correlation, some say, between scoring margin and the long-term success of a team. Punahou, with its young roster, eked out some close victories by sheer grit. Three of their seven wins were by margins of 14 points or more.
