Tittle steps down from Mililani hoops post

Jason Tittle is looking forward to next Christmas, when it’s likely he won’t be a head basketball coach. Tittle said there were several reasons behind his decision to step down from his post as the Mililani boys varsity coach. One of them is to spend more time with his daughter, who will be turning 3. The best team in Oregon football last season is visiting Hawaii for a game against ‘Iolani at Eddie Hamada Field on Aug. 31, according to Raiders coach Wendell Look. Damien to play football game on the mainland

Damien will be taking its first mainland football trip since well before Eddie Klaneski became the head coach in 2011. Damien will play Mt. Spokane in Mead, Wash., on Aug. 31. The Wildcats went 8-3 a year ago. Klaneski led the Monarchs to a 10-4 mark and the ILH D-II title in 2017. On the strength of two undefeated weekends before the start of the regular season, ‘Iolani and Baldwin are the top two teams in the first Honolulu Star-Advertiser Baseball Top 10 rankings released today. The Raiders collected only two of the 10 first-place votes, but are ahead of Baldwin, which received six first-place votes. The Campbell Sabers collected seven first-place votes to open the season at No. 1 in the Star-Advertiser Softball Top 10 today. The three-time defending state champions were 7-2-2 in nonconference play. The Sabers lost to Mililani and Kapolei in preseason, and tied with ‘Iolani and Moanalua. Oregon freshman Chardonnay Curran has been called up to the Under-20 U.S. National Women’s Team World Cup training camp. Curran, a 2017 Campbell High alumna, is one of eight forwards and 24 total players selected who will travel to France from Feb. 23 to March 7 for an extended training camp and two international matches against the Under-20 France Women’s National Team.
