State champion Baldwin, which brought back to Maui its second state baseball trophy in three years last month, finished the season ranked No. 8 in the country by USA Today. The Bears, who finished 16-1 this season, dropped one spot in the final Super 25 rankings released today. Baldwin finished second overall in the West Region, trailing only No. 5 Valley Christian-San Jose. Mililani quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who will enter his senior season 2,057 passing yards shy of the state’s all-time career record, announced his college commitment on Twitter today. Kaiser’s Kaile Halvorsen, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State player of the year from this past season, was named the Gatorade Hawaii girls soccer state player of the year today. Narbonne to return for Saint Louis rematch

Two state championship teams will go at it Aug. 17, when Saint Louis and Narbonne (Harbor City, Calif.) play a rematch of last year’s 56-50 win by the Crusaders at Aloha Stadium.
