Memorial 5k event to honor 6-time Hawaii Fastest Human, Chad Miyamoto

Chad Miyamoto was in his groove as a sprinter, winning the Hawaii’s Fastest Human title six times. Miyamoto died on Sept. 17, just four months after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. “It was so sudden. On this date in 2003, Damien Torres proved without a shadow of a doubt that Kailua would be just fine at the running back position. Torres, a linebacker, torched McKinley for 184 rushing yards in a 26-21 victory over McKinley. Kamehameha senior Jordan Thibodeau broke the course record by more than 10 seconds to win the boys race and the first- and second-place girls destroyed the mark by more than 15 seconds. Adventure time in the desert is underway for a new version of Hawaii’s fab five. Kordel Ng, Liko Soares, Nainoa Peters, Kamana Lapina and Ryan Owens are pursuing their hoop dreams.
