Tiki Vasconcellos invented the Boom Series offense in years earlier, and on this date in 1960 it was running on all cylinders. Steve Nakamura scored two touchdowns and fell two yards short of a third as Roosevelt crushed Kaimuki 25-0 before a crowd of 10,000 at Honolulu Stadium. One swing, one smack and Kennedy Hara rounded the bases in Peoria, Ariz. The Mid-Pacific infielder-pitcher had his moments of fun in the desert at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic over the weekend. Auburn offers scholarship to Maryknoll hoopster Sage Tolentino

Sage Tolentino has something in common with Charles Barkley. The 7-foot Maryknoll junior received a scholarship offer from Auburn, Barkley’s alma mater, on Tuesday. This is his first offer from the Southeastern Conference (SEC). On this date in 1978, John Kamana carried Punahou to a 27-21 win over Iolani. Kamana was one of the ILH’s best receivers before dotting USC’s famous I formation as a tailback against Iolani. On this date in 1984, Pac-Five needed everything it had to beat pesky Damien. The victory left the Wolf pack tied with the Saint Louis Crusaders and Kamehameha Warriors at 4-1 in the ILH standings. Game one of Chanelle Molina’s professional basketball career ended with a loss, but the Norrköping Dolphins might be back in the title chase. Molina scored 24 points and grabbed four rebounds in the Dolphins’ 72-65 loss to league powerhouse Hogsbo on Saturday.
