The hot streak cooled on Saturday for Chanelle Molina and the Norrköping Dolphins in a 73-69 loss to IK EOS. The road loss ended the Dolphins’ three-game win streak. Norrköping dropped to 3-2 and third place in the Swedish Basketball League. IK EOS (4-1) is now in sole possession of second place. Alvik (5-0) is the frontrunner. Day one at the PTP National College Showcase in Utah was just the preliminary. The Hawaii group organized by Nate Kia numbers in the dozens. Thursday’s opening day was comprised of 1-on-1 and 7-on-7 competition. “It was a great day,” Kia said. Today, the event resumes with 11-on-11 play. Landyn Jumawan is hoping to launch to new heights this winter. The Leilehua junior and Star-Advertiser All-State selection transferred to Humble High School in Houston three weeks ago. Jumawan was a 6-foot-1 wing for the talented Mules basketball team last season as a sophomore. He averaged 15 points per game with versatile array of skills. This Roughneck is just getting started. Nalani Kirkman wrestled for the Lahaina Roughnecks long before she stepped on the Lahainaluna High School campus. As a sophomore, she reached the 102-pound state quarterfinals before losing to Kalai Tengan of Kamehameha, 3-0. Her junior season as a Luna was a heartbreaker, losing to Kennedy Javier of Mililani, 15-11, in the preliminary round of the 102 weight class. On this date in 2001, Mulivai Pula opened the second half with an 80-yard touchdown run and No. 1 Kahuku beat Waianae 21-6 to complete an unbeaten regular season.
