Campbell’s Titus Mokiao-Atimalala all the rage with recruiters

By Paul Honda on November 28, 2019

The tsunami seems surreal for Titus Mokiao-Atimalala. Last week, the Campbell junior received three more scholarship offers from FBS schools. This week, the wave continued with Nebraska and Washington State. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound wide receiver also has offers from Hawaii, Cal, Oregon State, Michigan, Utah and Wisconsin. For quite some time, it seemed like the world might never notice the mammoth sophomore season he had. Now, it is snowballing. “It’s truly a blessing and I’m thankful to God and all […]

By Nick Abramo on November 22, 2019

Darren Johnson, a grown man with a hard-nosed football past, was crying real tears after talking to his players. His eyes were fully watered and red. That’s love. His Campbell Sabers had just come oh-so-close to moving on to the Open Division title game of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA State Football Championships at Aloha Stadium. It got away, though, in the semifinals on Friday night at Aloha Stadium. No. 5 Campbell led by three at the half before No. 3 […]

VIDEO: Kahuku vs. Campbell, Open semifinal, highlights

By Paul Honda on November 22, 2019

In-game highlights, Kahuku vs. Campbell, First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Open Division State Championships, semifinal round. Titus Mokiao-Atimalala playing limited snaps due to injury. No Bubbah Aina-Chaves (ineligible). But WR Zavier Ceruti, who shined at the UH Football Camp last summer, is channeling his inner Ashley Lelie. Despite a torrent of penalties, Kahuku finds the end zone on this tough 10-yard run by Zealand Matagi. A short Campbell punt, after a pass interference call was waved off, gives Kahuku good field position. […]

Cal, Wisconsin, Oregon State pile on with offers for Campbell’s Titus Mokiao-Atimalala

By Paul Honda on November 22, 2019

The domino effect is in play for Titus Mokiao-Atimalala. This morning, Oregon State became the latest FBS school to offer the Campbell junior a football scholarship. That makes three offers in a 24-hour span. On Thursday, Cal and Wisconsin made their offers official to the 6-foot-1, 170-pound wide receiver/defensive back. Michigan made an offer roughly a week ago. The first school to make an offer was Hawaii. >> CLICK HERE FOR HAWAII PREP WORLD’S PREP FOOTBALL RECRUITING DATABASE Not bad […]

Campbell gets star players back, but still has to figure out how to stop Kahuku’s Zealand Matagi

By Paul Honda on November 19, 2019

Could the third time be the charm for the Campbell Sabers when the Open Division semifinals of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships take place Friday at Aloha Stadium? Campbell (6-5) went to Kahuku (8-3) and lost 35-7 on Aug. 31, then met the Red Raiders in the OIA Open playoffs and lost again 46-0 at Aloha Stadium on Oct. 19. That’s a combined score of 81-7 in two meetings. “In the (playoff game), they hurt us on defense […]
