7:00: Everyone in the sparse crowd is expecting an onside kick.

6:58: Hipa’s 2-point pass goes to Titus Mokiao-Atimalala at the left side, but he can’t catch the ball that looked to be in his hands — over the defense of Tomasi Pasi. Pasi actually got a hand on the ball to change the direction. Mokiao-Atimalala still tried to get under it as it skewed off on a different angle. Whew!!!! KAHUKU 21, CAMPBELL 19, 0:16 left in fourth quarter.

6:57: Incredibly, Hipa scrambles and finds Titus Mokiao-Atimalala for a touchdown at the left corner of the end zone. 0:16 left.

6:56: Hipa hits Titus Mokiao-Atimalala for 17 yards. Clock runs. Hipa spikes the ball, which is at the Kahuku 24.

6:55: On second down, Lactaoen catches a 2-yard pass. On third down, Hipa’s pass falls incomplete. 0:34 left.

6:55: On first down, Hipa’s pass falls incomplete. 1:03 to go.

6:54: After the punt, Campbell takes over at the Kahuku 41. 1:09 left in fourth quarter.

6:53: On third down, Matagi is stopped for no gain. Kahuku is punting. 1:21 left.

6:52: Adolpho, on second down, gains another 2 yards to the 5. It’s third and 6. 2:06 left in fourth quarter.

6:51: Adolpho gains 2 yards to the 3.

6:38: Hipa keeps it on fourth down, trying to sneak up the middle, but he is stopped cold at for no gain. Kahuku ball at the 1-inch line. 3:16 left in fourth quarter.

6:46: The third-down play starts with a reverse. But Adkins-Kupukaa drops the ball. Hipa alterly picks it up and throws a pass to Manuma. Manuma is hit by Kahuku’s Kaonohi Kaniho at the 4, but Manuma pitches to Titus Mokiao-Atimalala, who runs to the 1. Fourth down!!!

6:43: The Sabers are now on the 3 after a 1-yard loss by Hipa. It’s third and goal. 3:38 left in fourth quarter.

6:42: Campbell takes over at the 17 and gets 8 yards on a Kahuku holding call. Then, Hipa runs for 7 to the 2 for a first and goal.

6:39: Blesyng Alualu-Tuiolemotu blocks a Kahuku punt. Campbell has lots of life now.

6:38: The Red Raiders get one first down, but can’t get another and punt. Just more than 5 minutes left.

6:32: The Sabers call timeout and choose the safe route. The freshman kicker doesn’t disappoint. Taylor kicks a 24-yard field goal. KAHUKU 21, CAMPBELL 13, 9:25 left in fourth quarter.

6:29: Campbell has a fourth and 6 to go from the 7.

6:27: Sky Lactaoen catches a 25-yard over the middle pass from Hipa to bring the ball to the Kahuku 11.

6:26: The Kahuku pass rush has been relentless in the second half so far.

6:23: Sabers moving, thanks to a Kahuku penalty and a 22-yard Hipa to Pokii Adkins-Kupukaa pass. Campbell ball at the Kahuku 36.

6:19: Third quarter ends.

6:13: Kahuku does not let the opportunity pass with a first down and goal from the 6. Matagi is stopped for a 2-yard loss and then scoots up the middle for an 8-yard touchdown. Requilman kicks the extra point. KAHUKU 21, CAMPBELL 10, 0:27 left in third quarter.

6:12: Adolpho strikes again on fourth down, hitting Cypress Abraham for 17 yards on a fourth and 5 from the 23.

6:09: Personal-foul penalties bring Campbell back to its own 11 and then a short punt gives Kahuku great field position at the Sabers’ 26.

6:02: Matagi takes a wildcat, elephant formation snap and goes around left end, breaking three tackles, for a touchdown. Adam Requilman kicks the extra point. KAHUKU 14, CAMPBELL 10, 4:35 left in third quarter.

6:00: Adolpho scrambles and finds Tomasi Pasi — with a defender tight on him — for an 18-yard gain to the 10.

5:58: Red Raiders are bogging down. It’s fourth down and 11 from the 28.

5:55: Matagi gains 11 and 14 yards to move the chains.

5:52: After the punt, Kahuku takes over at its 48.

5:51: Campbell goes three and out and is about to punt.

5:48: Kahuku chooses to punt. The ball goes into the end zone. Touchback. Campbell to start at the 20.

5:47: Kahuku faces a fourth down and 2 from the Sabers’ 40. It appears as though the Red Raiders are going to go for it.

5:46: Red Raiders take the second half kick and have great field position at the Campbell 48 after a personal-foul penalty.

5:25: Second quarter ends.

5:25: Matagi runs for 21 yards and then Adolpho passes to Matagi for another 21 yards as Kahuku moves quickly. The Red Raiders call a timeout with 6 seconds left in the half. Then, Adolpho finds Peter-John Mataira deep down the left side and he catches the pass, but is hit by Manuma and then brought down by Titus Mokiao-Atimalala at the Campbell 4 as time runs out in the half.

5:21: Ceruti appears like he is going from the left to an inside slant, but fades outside and catches a 6-yard touchdown pass from Hipa. Taylor kicks the extra point. Campbell takes the lead. CAMPBELL 10, KAHUKU 7, 0:32 left in second quarter.

5:16: A false start brings the ball to just outside the 5. 0:45 to go in second quarter. It was nearly another false start, but Campbell called timeout before the play.

5:14: The big plays continue. Ceruti stretches his arms out with tight defense to haul in a 24-yard pass from Hipa down the left sideline. Campbell ball at the Kahuku 1. 1:24 to go in first half.

5:07: Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala makes a 21-yard catch on a Hipa pass. After three more completions, Peter Manuma hauls in a 22-yard toss from Hipa to push the ball to the Kahuku 23. 1:51 to go in the second quarter.

5:03: Campbell has trouble moving and are pushed bac on a Joseph Taufa sack. But the Sabers get a first down on Kahuku defensive holding. First and 10 at the Campbell 28.

4:58: The Sabers come up with another stop. On third and 3, Tyrese Tafai drops Matagi for a 1-yard loss. Kahuku is punting.

4:55: Chase Taylor, a freshman, kicks a 23-yard field goal. KAHUKU 7, CAMPBELL 3, 9:07 left in second quarter.

4:54: On fourth and 1 from the 6, Campbell lines up for a field goal, but calls timeout. They’re back on the field, lining up for a field goal again.


4:52: Sky Lactaoen makes a diving catch of a Hipa pass while being hit for another first down. Hipa is also hit hard and shaken up, limping. But he returns on the next play. First and 10 from the 15.

4:49: On fourth down and 1 from the Kahuku 32, Hipa tries a a quarterback sneak. He gets it by about an inch and is hit hard and pushed back about seven yards after forward progress. Still, it’s a first down and 10 from the 31.

4:45: First quarter ends.

4:44: Hipa hits Ceruti for a 10-yard gain and another first down at the Kahuku 41.

4:41: Sabers on the move. Hipa connects with Zavier Ceruti for 13 yards and a first down at the Sabers’ 45.

4:39: The Campbell defense comes up big with a stop. Kahuku does not get far and punts it away.

4:38: Oops. Campbell coughs the ball up on the kickoff return and Kingston Jones recovers for the Red Raiders.

4:36: Matagi keeps pounding the ball in the wildcat, elephant formation, and three plays later, Zion Ah You scores from 2 yards out. Adam Requilman kicks the extra point. KAHUKU 7, CAMPBELL 0, 4:14 left in first quarter.

4:34: Hold everything. Weirdness has hit the fan. Kahuku challenges the spot. Apparently the referees find a too enalty on Campbell on the review. The ball is moved up five yards and they replay fourth down. Zealand Matagi takes the ball in a wildcat formation and gains the first down. It’s first and 10 from the 18.

4:20: Kahuku quarterback Tiger Adolpho comes in for starter Jason Mariteragi and runs a keeper on fourth and 6 from the Campbell 26. He picks up 5 yards and the Red Raiders turn over the ball on downs.

4:19: It appears that Campbell running back Jonan Aina-Chaves is not suited up. Word is that he is ineligible. Will try to get more on that as more information becomes available.

4:17: A personal foul penalty moves the ball to the Sabers’ 29.

4:14: Red Raiders grind out a first down and are at the Campbell 45 after starting at their own 45.

4:12: Campbell gets as far as its 36 and punts it away.

4:11: Sabers get a first down on three straight short passes by Blaine Hipa.

4:10: We are underway here. Campbell gets the ball first. Kahuku defending the South end zone.

    Are we using jps or popwarner refs for our state semifinals? What’s the refs mindset before the game?Where were the calls for holding,pass interference, late hits,ball placements? Do these refs come from neutral districts,Any family relations ? Should we use outer island refs, mainland refs for playoffs?U had to be at the game ,tv replay doesn’t show everything . Sorry Campbell u got robbed!
