Coaches roundup: Leoni returns to Kalaheo

Sivan Leoni is returning to coach Kalaheo boys volleyball, Mustangs athletic director Mark Brilhante told Hawaii Prep World on Wednesday. Leoni, a native of Isreal, was a standout with the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team from 1995 to 1998. He was also the Mustangs’ head coach from 2000 to 2005, leading them to OIA championships in 2004 and 2005. Tuileta transferring to UH

Larry “Tui” Tuileta, who was the state’s best high school football and volleyball players, is seeking to join the University of Hawaii, according to the Star-Advertiser’s Stephen Tsai. Tuileta requested — and secured — a release from USC this afternoon. Tuileta has notified the UH volleyball coach Charlie Wade and football coach Nick Rolovich, according to people familiar with the situation. Randy Nako is the new Kamehameha boys volleyball coach, Warriors athletic director Glennie Adams told Hawaii Prep World on Wednesday. Nako has lots of experience as an assistant coach at many different levels. Bayne hired to coach Maryknoll boys VB

David Bayne is the new boys volleyball coach at Maryknoll, Spartans athletic director John Madriaga said Wednesday. Maryknoll athletics also announced the hiring Wednesday afternoon on Twitter. Bayne, who works as a counselor at Maryknoll, has been a head coach at St. Francis and at University.
