    Go Big Red!!!

  2. Manley October 29, 2016 10:42 pm

    Lol,everybody seen that coming.

  3. RidgeRunnerE-5 October 29, 2016 10:47 pm

Kahuku gotta play Punahou AND Saint Louis?!? No way!

  4. Manley October 29, 2016 10:50 pm

So St.Louis gets to play oNE of 2 teams that Kahuku beat by a combine score of 82-8? Wow that’s the path of the #2 seed? I thought seed #1 had the easier path?

  5. Manley October 29, 2016 10:51 pm

    No matter. Kahuku will dominate.

  6. Paper Crane October 29, 2016 10:57 pm

    We OK with that like this week games were already a shoe in but hopefully minus the injuries or the DL and so 13 days to rest up and get healthy again along with assignments, drills, and scholastics; only 3 more wins for a repeat whereas Kahuku High is still the defending Champions for the State of Hawaii High School Football until proven otherwise;

God’s Blessing for our Red Raiders Nation, Amen. RR4L

  7. Matuu Pulotu October 29, 2016 10:58 pm

You would think the fourth seed OIA would be in the first seed OIA bracket but I guess they wanted two physical teams to beat up on each other so St Louis has an easier path to reach the final. Oh well, good luck to all teams, play smart, safe and enjoy the last several weeks of HHSAA high school football. GO BIG RED.

  8. Ohhreally October 29, 2016 11:21 pm

Open division, division 1, division 2…. HHSAA is a damn joke!! More games = more $$$$ How bout we give everyone a participation trophy!!!

  9. Red & Blue October 29, 2016 11:22 pm

Wow, interesting brackets. Would have thought Punahou vs. Waiane and then Farrington vs Kapolei. Winner of Punahou/Waianae would play Kahuku and then St. Louis would play winner of Farrington vs. Kapolei. Those would have been interesting matchups…Kahuku would still probably would have had to go through both Punahou and St. Louis to win the Open Championship. It will be interesting to find out the thought process behind these brackets.

  10. ilh October 29, 2016 11:51 pm

That’s the way it should be. If you claim Kahuku is the best, than it’s only fair that they need to go through they other two best teams in the State.

  11. ilh October 29, 2016 11:52 pm

OH REALLY, GO FLY A KITE NOW, STOP BITCHING

  12. Lala October 29, 2016 11:59 pm

Maybe that’s the only way ILH can beat OIA…double team them. But, whatever and whoever wins….Good luck, Waianae, Farrington, Kapolei and Kahuku…do what you do….

  13. AUWE October 30, 2016 12:02 am

Would of thought brackets would of came out like this according to standings!

    #1 Kahuku #2 St. Louis

    #3 Punahou #4 Farrington

    #5 Kapolei #6 Waianae

First round Farrington vs Kapolei winner plays kahuku

Punahou vs Waianae winner play St. Louis

So in other words Farrington not good enough to be ranked #3 but gets the #3 seed. And I thought the public schools was the ones with the math problems?? But either way don’t think Big Red would want it any other way lol

  14. AOK October 30, 2016 12:07 am

Double teaming, really? We get 2, you get 4. So who the hell is double teaming who? Must be that quality public school education you getting, huh? Lolz

  15. AOK October 30, 2016 12:11 am

You all must not be some historians. It’s been setin history that HHSAA will ALWAYS set the 2 ILh reps on opposite sides of the bracket. Look at the just completed girls vb bracket for example. Kahuku 1 seed. Ilh Kam 2 seed, Iolani unseeded, but on Kahuku side of the bracket. Same thing here. What’s so hard to comprehend about that. Every sport same story. Every basketball states, baseball states, I could go on. Come on guys not that hard. As my ilh braddah already said, NUT UP.

  16. RR4L October 30, 2016 12:13 am

I.L.H should of added Kamehameha too. You guys making yourselves look to desperate for that state title!!! Bring it on…..KAHUKU GOING SMASH EVERYBODY!!!

  17. happypapa October 30, 2016 12:17 am

These are Hawaii’s best six high school teams in 2016 given the format of the Open Division. Now, let’s play football hard and fair….may the best team win and no young man get injured. I hope every team has their best game in the tournament.

  18. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 12:26 am

why are the OIA people complaining that the ILH people have 2 teams in the tournament? I dont neccessarily have a side but doesn’t the OIA have 4 teams in the tournament?

These are obviously the best teams in the state. I wouldnt want the games to be any other way.

    I can’t wait and I’m sure the kids can’t either 🙂

  19. AUWE October 30, 2016 12:33 am

@ilh you are absolutely right, it’s only fair if you a St. Louis fan lol. Seems to me punahou got the shaft too having to play the higher seeded OIA team?? Then kahuku in order to get another crack at St. Louis

  20. ilh October 30, 2016 12:39 am

Why would people want to see Kahuku vs. Waianae for the third time , or Kahuku vs. Farrington for the second time, when those games were blown outs, Now it’s Kahuku vs. Punahou 1 or Kahuku vs. Kapolei 1. St. Louis vs. Farrington 1 or St. Louis vs. Waianae 1, now go figga.

  21. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 12:44 am

yeah i think the matchmakers made it for the most exciting games. no one wants to see a repeat of regular season games. can you imagine a punahou vs kahuku semifinal? that should be awesome!

though i would of loved to see kapolei on st. louis side to potentially see a tagovailoa matchup but i wouldnt count on any of the games to be a gimme. anyone can win!

  22. ilh October 30, 2016 12:45 am

AUWE, YES, I’M AN ILH FAN, ST. LOUIS ALREADY PLAYED PUNAHOU THREE TIMES IN THE REGULAR SEASON, MOST PEOPLE ALREADY TIRED OF SEEING THEM PLAYING FOUR TIMES, ALTHOUGH IT MAY HAPPEN IN THE STATE FINALS, GO PUNS GO SAINTS, ANYONE ELSE BUT KAHUKU.

  23. Tomahawk_choppah88 October 30, 2016 1:04 am

Add a 3rd ILH team for the hell of it and have them play Kahuku too…it doesn’t matter how you cook it, Red Raiders will dominate and by the looks of how they blew past the OIA, ILH knows it. Every offense looks good until they play Kahuku. The way I see it, Punahou needs to get past Kapolei and St.Louis needs to get past Farrington or Waianae first. If they do that, they still have to get past the #1 School in the state to grasp that title. Hahaha Good luck with that!! #RR4L

  24. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 1:29 am

@tomahawk why would the ILH want to add a 3rd team to the mix when the oia has 4? 4 verses 2 is enough. 6 teams is enough. It’s not about having a certain amount of teams against the another conference.

its about having the 6 best teams facing each other. why is everyone complaining? if you don’t think this is the 6 best teams playing each other, you guys are bonkers!

  25. Buzz October 30, 2016 2:01 am

$$ cha Ching $$ it’s all about the money the HHSAA going bring in the money for that potential Kahuku vs Punahou match and than potential Kahuku vs St Louis match. Which Kahuku will win both games and become champion again. If you want to protest don’t show up stay home watch on TV and than the HHSAA won’t make money simple as that.

  26. RR4L October 30, 2016 2:54 am

I tell you what’s BONKERS………”ANYONE ONE BUT KAHUKU” now that’s BONKERS!! LOL.

  27. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 3:28 am

    @RR4L

having lived in laie for 7 years…gotta love the RR. But im def looking forward to seeing the match ups with the other teams. Should be some good games.

Dare I make some vegas odds on the chances to win the championship?

    Kahuku -110
    St. Louis +125
    Punahou +170
    Kapolei +850
    Farraington +950
    Waianae +1500

  28. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 3:34 am

Lets make some imaginary vegas odds on the quarterfinal games:

    Punahou -10 vs. Kapolei
    Farrington -3 vs. Waianae

  29. Jason Keuma October 30, 2016 5:17 am

    how it’s done everywhere else. 1 and 2 has a bye , 4 and 5 play in 1’s bracket. 3 and 6 play in 2’s bracket.

hhsaa goal is no to let the chips fall where they may, but to choose where the chips fall. hence not ranking every team in the d1 tournament. everyone would notice that there are new rules painted on the side of the barn.

Why not get rid of all the guess work, two oia and two ilh teams, four plus one format? or just one champion from each league to minimize potential injuries.

no capital letters used because someone used it them all up earlier.

  30. ??? October 30, 2016 5:27 am

    Blah, Blah, Blah
    JUST PLAY FOOTBALL…

  31. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 5:52 am

why are people complaining? the rankings are all subjective anyway. these are pretty much the best matchups and games.

    i agree. JUST PLAY FOOTBALL

  32. Pick Six October 30, 2016 6:38 am

Wow! Love how you ILH fanboys already dismissing the other 3 OIA teams. After watching this season unfold no team will beat Kahuku that is the reality of all of this and you all know it. If by miracle we lose, so be it and I’ll comeback here and congratulate that team unlike all the Crusader fanboys last year that went awol on this board. Goodluck you’re all going to need it.

  33. 85 October 30, 2016 6:44 am

It seems that most of you choose to disregard public record of how the HHSAA seed and place teams in brackets over the past 20-30 years. Do most of you choose to be that naive? Or are you just that ignorant?

  34. grabum.bythe.puppy.gate October 30, 2016 6:45 am

why aint they showing us the seed # of each teams? because this tournament isnt based on fair placement its based on what the state wants to see, which means kahuku the #1 seed is given the hardest path so that maximum tickets sales can be achieved.

  35. grabum.bythe.puppy.gate October 30, 2016 6:56 am

HHSAA please release the seed #s, so next year we can make sure you follow the same format and not just pull things out your butt in favor of the ILH.

  36. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 6:58 am

the hardest path? im pretty sure punahou has the hardest path…you gotta beat kapolei, kahuku and st. louis.

it doesn’t get harder than that.

there’s no way they were gonna stack the two ILH teams in the same side. why would they do that? so they could play for a record 4th time this year? cmon guys.

  37. Football Fan October 30, 2016 7:00 am

there seems to be two type of kahuku fans on here:

    1) the ones that aren’t afriad and willing to play anyone at anytime

    and

    2) the ones that are complaining about seeding and matchups and thinks everyone is against them.

if you fall in the number 2 category, stop making your fanbase look bad. the kids dont mind going up against anybody. you should follow that same mentality.

  38. TooMeke October 30, 2016 7:22 am

    WAS I RIGHT???

    OR WAS I RIGHT??????

Technically since St LuLu and Puns are the 2nd and 3rd best team they should be on same side of bracket…but… AS I HAVE REPEATEDLY SAID…

This is the deal HHSAA and ILH made MONTHS AGO…but have never publicly admitted. But no the ‘proof is in the pudding’… Given their overall records, rankings, etc…there is NO WAY they should be in opposite sides of bracket.

But that’s okay… it’s a ONE AND DONE playoff system. OIA will flex for next year and we will see a BRAND NEW FORMAT…again…

Called it months ago… EF-uuuuuuuule’i… Where you at???

But no matter… we running over both of them.

    HA!!!!

    RRFL!

  39. grabum.bythe.puppy.gate October 30, 2016 7:27 am

kailua boys, in any tournament the last place team has the hardest path. the reward for being the #1 seed is that you should have the easiest path. thats how all HHSAA tournaments are seeded

    #1 and #4 in bracket A
    #2 and #3 in bracket B

tell me how punahou got the #4 seed? when they are clearly the #3 best team in the state. they also threw the winner of kapolei/ waianae into kahukus bracket. stlouis has the easiest path.

  40. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 7:35 am

Why are some Kahuku fans complaining about the seeding? Just play the game! You guys are better than that!

There’s no reason to stack the two ILH teams when they play each other all year! Plus the rankings are not really clear when the leagues don’t inter mingle and dont play the same teams. Pure speculation.

No scared em! Go get em!

  41. Tomahawk_choppah88 October 30, 2016 7:42 am

    @kailuaboys

You obviously missed the point of my post and the inclusion of subtle sarcasm. I don’t give a “BuffN’Blu’in-CrusaderSmellin’-RatsAss” on how the brackets are set up. The outcome will duplicate that of last year’s. #RedRaidersOnTop

  42. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 7:43 am

    @grabum.bythe.puppy.gate

i agree that the kapolei vs. wainae winner should of been in st. louis bracket but it looks like they don’t want to have repeated match ups. can you imagine how crappy a st. louis vs. punahou semi would be for the fourth time? i went to the 1st match up and you could literally hear the birds chirping it was so quiet.

i think the rankings and overall seedings are totally subjective until there is a super league where everyone plays everyone. there’s no way to say for sure punahou is the 3rd best team when all they play is the same 3 teams each year (kam, iolani and st. louis).

just a honest question….are kahuku fans afraid that they might lose to punahou in the semis? from what i’ve seen it should be a good game but I still think you guys are favored by far.

  43. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 7:45 am

    Tomahawk_choppah88

that’s the spirit!!!!! now you gotta get all the posters on here to follow that mentality!

  44. grabum.bythe.puppy.gate October 30, 2016 7:46 am

so when someone bends you over and screws u, you should not say anything and let them continue?

  45. RR4L October 30, 2016 7:50 am

    https://www.sideshowtoy.com/photo_3002081_thumb.jpg SMASH THE OPEN DIVISION

  46. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 7:52 am

    @grabum.bythe.puppy.gate

no ones getting bent and screwed! im sure the kids want to face the best and play teams they haven’t faced yet.

im sure if you asked the kahuku kids about their schedule they wouldnt want it any other way. they seem to NEVER back from down from a challenge. hopefully the fanbase will feel the same

  47. grabum.bythe.puppy.gate October 30, 2016 7:53 am

@kb, this is not a preseason tourney where you create dream matchups. this is post season where your hard work during the season determines your position in the post tourney. all that got thrown out the door

  48. Kailua Boys October 30, 2016 7:59 am

    @grabum.bythe.puppy.gate

i agree. without one super league…rankings are just subjective. there’s no way to figure out who truly is ranked where when they don’t play each other. that’s why a super regular season league is so important.

being a football fan myself, i can’t wait till NOV. 11. thats gonna be some awesome football. I didn’t even attend any school in the top 6 but I just want too see awesome games.

  49. What u smok'n October 30, 2016 8:06 am

I’m a proud Kahuku alumn but embrassed to see how some of you Kahuku fans think. Some of you are just mentally wired wrong, there is no ilh conspiracy and we are not the enemy of the state. It’s great to be proud of your team and community but don’t pass the pride to become ignorant.

  50. al October 30, 2016 8:36 am

dude. how dense are the idiot kahuku conspiracy theorists here? I’m excluding the not idiot ones who just support their team and don’t go into elaborate conspiracy theories and whine about matchups while at the same time saying kahuku is the most dominant force in football on the planet.

League champions are always placed in opposite halves of the bracket of the runner up. star advertiser rankings don’t matter because HHSAA seeding committee (which is made up of representatives from all leagues that are participating in the tournament, 1 rep per league, usually a coach or an AD) don’t consider them. The SA poll is just some bs the newspaper and hawaii prep world made up to generate more interest in the sport.

This is all common knowledge to anyone who has been involved in high school athletics in this state and it’s been like this for decades. Even the OIA tournament is run in this way in all sports. east champ and west champ seeded opposite of each other. runner ups placed in opposite halves of the bracket (as much as possible) from their champs. Look at all the tournament brackets from football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, even wrestling (where they try to not have two wrestlers/players from the same school go against each other in the first round).

There is no conspiracy, you idiots. it’s all in your head. if you guys are scared that kahuku will lose and so you whine about matchups, that’s your problem because as far as i know, no coach, including vavae tata, or player is crying about how HHSAA or ILH Conspiracy is trying to screw over kahuku. why? because they KNOW how seeding and brackets work. and they’re not scared of losing or their matchups, unlike a lot of kahuku fans here.
