GAME NIGHT 9/17: Kaimuki/Kalaheo

Kailua is the host site for an OIA Division II game pitting Kalaheo (1-4, 1-3) against Kaimuki (2-2, 2-1). Bulldogs need to win to stay in the top four of the division that advance to the playoffs. Kickoff is set for around 6:30 p.m. and we will have live updates.

HISTORY: Kaimuki leads the all-time series 10-7-2 and has won seven in a row.

10:03 p.m.: Final: 45-25 Kaimuki, which improves to 3-1 in OIA D-II. Kalaheo falls to 1-4 in league play

9:54 p.m: Lehrner gets his fourth TD toss of the night, to 6-2 Nathaniel Gribbons, his 2nd TD grab. Still out of reach for Kalaheo, which fails the 2XP pass and the ensuing onside kick.
45-25, 4:10 to play

9:45 p.m.: Bailey Uehara catches a 21-yd pass from Solomon (his fourth TD throw) and Kaimuki has put this out of reach. XP is good and it’s 45-19, 5:32 to play.


9:34 p.m.:
Lehrner picked for the second time tonight and that’s a real killer for Kalaheo. The QB had just had two nice completions

9:30 p.m.: Bulldogs fumble it, recovered by Mustangs to open the fourth. Kalaheo needs to put something together right here to keep it a game.

9:27 p.m.: 3Q ends, Kaimuki leading 38-19 and on the march

9:25 p.m.: Kaimuki’s Nguyen picks off Lehrner, who went deep

9:23 pm..: Solomon is picked off for the second time today. Kalaheo takes over down 19 near end of the third.

9:15 p.m.: Lehrner is sacked for a big loss by Saia Maiava and Bulldogs driving in Kalaheo territory again thanks to a good return.

9:11 p.m.: Ieke Seei-Cleveland decides he wants more. On 4th and 5, he spins about three times in traffic and breaks roughly 12 Kalaheo tackles to score from the 20
2XP rush by the RB is no good. 38-19 Kaimuki, 4:55 3Q

9:01 p.m.: Mustangs can’t match. They go three and out despite being aided by a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty on Kaimuki. Kaimuki on the march but they have a lineman down hurt. It’s Joyfull Elieasar. He’s getting carted off the field. Looks like an ankle/foot injury. the teams are in full stretch/warmup mode after gathering around the injured boy, 6:01 left 3Q

8:51 p.m.: Kaimuki keeps it going on this side of the break. Andries Toussaint dives to catch a 20-yd TD pass from Solomon at the near right pylon. Kick fails, it’s 32-19 Bulldogs. Solomon’s third TD pass of the game, matching Lehrner

8:44 p.m.: Second half underway, Kalaheo kicks it to Kaimuki

8:40 pm.: At half, Kalaheo QB Mark Lehrner is 8-for-11 for 154 yds with 3 TDs and no picks. His Kaimuki counterpart Jordan Solomon is 9-for-20 for 131 yds with 2 TDs and 1 pick. Bulldogs RB Seei-Cleveland has 14 carries for 82 yards and a TD, plus three grabs for 30 yds and a TD.

8:17 p.m.: 45 combined points in the period and counting. Kaimuki turns it over on downs in Kalaheo territory. Mustangs with a final chance to go deep waning seconds of the half. Lehrner connects with Thulin-Marsh three straight passes and Mustangs have it up at the Bulldogs 40 with 7 seconds left. Darrell Poole calls time for the second time on the drive. Lehrner cant’ find a man downfield, scrambles for a 1-yard pickup as the half comes to an end. Kaimuki 26, Kalaheo 19


8:14 p.m.: Kaimuki onside kick attempt is successful, they get it back at the Kalaheo 49.

8:12 p.m.: Seei-Cleveland throws his team on his back one more time in the period. He catches a short pass from Solomon then does the rest, pushing his way in from the 5 after contact for the 19-yard TD grab. XP is blocked. 26-19 Kaimuki, 2:17 2Q

8:04 p.m.: Nathaniel Gribbons comes up huge playing both ways for Kalaheo. First he picks Solomon and returns it about 26 yards to the Kaimuki 21. Then Lehrner finds Gribbons across the middle for the 21-yd TD grab. Kalaheo could’ve tied it on the XP but the kick was no good. Kaimuki 20, Kalaheo 19, 4:53 2Q


7:57 p.m.:
Now they’re just exchanging haymakers. Lehrner finds Damien Veerman in stride down the left sideline … wide open. He goes the final 50 yards untouched. Marsh’s XP is good and Kaimuki’s lead is cut to 20-13, 5:30 2Q
That was a 75-yard TD connection.

7:50 p.m.: HUGE kickoff return, 55 yards, by Nguyen has Kaimuki at the Kalaheo 25. Nguyen then scores from 20 yards on a reverse. Kaimuki gets in the end zone in two plays from scrimmage. 2PT is good this time on a pass from Solomon to Seei-Cleveland. 20-6 Kaimuki, 5:50 2Q, that TD happend just 41 seconds after Kalaheo’s score

7:46 p.m.: Kalaheo breaks through in a flash, taking advantage of 30 yards of penalties on one play (pass interference plus a personal foul). On the ensuing play, Lehrner hits Tristan Thulin-Marsh WIDE open at the 1-yard line for a 28-yard touchdown pass. Run fails on a bobbled hold. 12-6 Kaimuki, 6:31 2Q. check that, rekicking after a Kaimuki penalty … Marsh’s kick is wide left, so same end result. 12-6 Kaimuki

7:40 p.m.: Ieke Seei-Cleveland lives up to his team’s nickname and bulls his way through for a 15-yard TD. His 2PT conversion run attempt fails. 12-0 Kaimuki, 7:36 2Q

7:36 p.m.: Kalaheo can’t get out of its own territory again and punts it to midfield.

7:33 p.m.: Kalaheo QB Mark Lehrner fumbles it deep in Mustangs territory, but Kaimuki fumbles it right back . Kalaheo operates from its 1

7:30 p.m.: Solomon hits Daniel Nguyen for a quick 4-yd TD to open the second quarter. 2PT run attempt fails when the kick holder, Nguyen, couldn’t secure it and came up a yard short when he picked it up and ran with it. 6-0 Bulldogs, 11:55 2Q

7:21 p.m.: Solomon scrambles to convert a big 4th and 5 from the Kalaheo 14. 1st and G for the Bulldogs at the 5. 1Q ends scoreless but with Kaimuki knocking at the door.

7:14 p.m.: Kaimuki opened its last drive with Joseph Carlton taking direct Wildcat snaps, but now the Bulldogs are back to their regular formation with Jordan Solomon at QB

7:12 p.m.: it’s another very quick three and out for Kalaheo. The Mustangs’ ground game is nothing doing right now.

7:10 p.m.: Kaimuki pushes into Kalaheo territory but comes up a yard short going for it on 4th and 6 from the Kalaheo 26. Kalaheo takes over on downs.

7:01 p.m.: The ‘Stangs go three and out on their opening drive, hindered due to a bad snap on third down. Punt goes only 14 yards and the Bulldogs in favorable position to start their first drive.


6:58 p.m.: Kaimuki kicks off to Kalaheo, and we’re underway from Kailua’s Alex Kane Stadium. It’s a squibber and the Mustangs start at their own 40.

6:23 p.m.: JV final: Kalaheo 43, Kaimuki 6
