GAME NIGHT 8/9: Waipahu/Castle

Waipahu 49, Castle 28, Final

 

10:34: 49-28 is your final. The day belongs to Failauga.

10:31: Failauga does it again. Three-yard TD to up his total to five touchdowns and 342 yards on 31 carries.


10:25: Kahoopii is ON FIRE. He fires a 20-yard touchdown to Kala Matthews, and the deficit is now just 42-28 with 4:02 left.

10:22: Slight delay as a Waipahu player goes down, but he gets up jogging which is definitely a positive sign. Castle calls timeout as it prepares to go for it on fourth-and-goal on the Waipahu 20 with 4:10 left in the fourth.

10:13: Waipahu ball on its own 20 after the touchback. Failauga is back out there after Castle claws back into this.

10:09: Figueroa catches a 44-yard touchdown from Kahoopii on a beautiful ball. Castle cuts the deficit to 42-21.

10:07: Castle gets the ball back on the Waipahu 44 after a punt, 7:37 left in the fourth.

10:01: Castle responds with a 29 yard score from Mana Kahoopii to EJ Dydasco. 42-14 with 9:30 left in the fourth.

9:56: Failauga breaks off runs of 62 and 8 to start the fourth, the second being a touchdown. He’s now up to four TD’s for the day and up to 259 yards on 25 carries. You have to imagine his day is done after this, but just a masterful performance. Extra point is good and Waipahu leads 42-7.

FOURTH QUARTER

9:50: Castle turns it over on downs in the red zone. Failauga gains a first down to up his total to 189 yards rushing. End of the third, Waipahu leads 35-7.

9:48: Waipahu muffs a punt and Castle starts at the Marauders’ 16 with 1:20 left in the third.

9:42: You-know-who with two more carries and a three-yard touchdown. Failauga is now up to 177 yards on 22 carries and punches in the two-point conversion for good measure. Waipahu up 35-7 with 4:31 left in the third.

9:39: Chase Kaseli with an interception to the Castle 9.

9:38: Castle to start from its own 20 after a touchback.

9:35: Failauga does it again, this time from 18 yards out. A delay after some penalty confusion. Marques runs in the two-point conversion and its 27-7 with 5:44 left in the third. Failauga up to 19-167.

9:24: Genesis Nakagawa recovers a fumble for Waipahu on their own 48, 6:50 left in the third.

9:16: Talk about a momentum swing. Waipahu feeds Failauga for a few carries before Setu and Marques connect for another big gain, this time for 36 yards. Failauga takes a handoff 22 yards to the house, upping his total to 16 carries for 129 yards. Two-point conversion is no good. But Waipahu leads 19-7 after almost squandering the lead, 9 minutes left in the third.

9:12: WHOA AGAIN. Tom takes a direct snap and is stopped just short of the chains. Tulafale with the crucial stop. Turnover on downs, Waipahu takes back over on its own 4 with 11:15 left in the third.

9:10: Castle calls a timeout facing fourth-and-1 from the Waipahu 4. The Knights are going for it.

9:06: WHOA. Logan Lauti muffs the kick return for Waipahu and Castle can take the lead after recovering at the Waipahu 12.

THIRD QUARTER


8:49: Castle calls a timeout to set up its defense. It works, as Marques is hit before he can deliver a Hail Mary pass. Waipahu still leads 13-7 at halftime and will receive the second half kickoff.

8:46: Castle’s Derek Clemente has been ejected for a late hit on Marques. Waipahu has one second left from the Castle 44 to capitalize.

8:41: Waipahu looks to get another score before halftime, starting from their own 40 with 50 seconds left in the second quarter.

8:39: The Knights are on the board. Chazz Tom punches it in from five yards out and Cheydon Costa‘s PAT is good. Castle is right back in this thing, cutting it to 13-7 with 57 seconds left in the first half.

8:34: Waipahu threatens to score again, but after some penalties and sacks, they’re forced to punt. Castle takes over from their own 35, looking to cut into the deficit before halftime.

8:24: Castle gets into Waipahu territory but is forced to put from the 35. Waipahu starts from its own 20 after a touchback, 8:55 left in the first half, Marauders still up 13-0.

SECOND QUARTER

8:19: The first quarter ends with Waipahu leading 13-0. Castle faces second-and-9 from its own 44 to start the second quarter.

8:17: Castle starts the next drive from its own 21.

8:12: Setu with his second touchdown catch of the day, this one from 16 yards out. Marques so far: 5-6, 124. Setu has three receptions for 92 yards and two scores. PAT is no good, but the Marauders stretch their lead to 13-0 with 1:00 left in the first.

8:07: Three-and-out for Castle. Waipahu starts in prime field position from the Knights’ 39 with 2:30 left in the first.

8:05: Waipahu running back Alfred Failauga fumbles at the Castle 7 with 3:20 left in the first.

8:01: Three-and-out for Castle. Waipahu starts from its own 35 after the punt.

7:58: Castle will start from its own 47 after a nice return from Jonah Figueroa.

7:57: Solofa Setu takes a screen from Cody Marques 70 yards TO THE HOUSE for Waipahu. Brycen Amorozo‘s PAT is good and Waipahu leads 7-0.

7:54: Castle picks up a first down but can’t get another. After the Knights punt, Waipahu will start from its own 19.

7:50: Castle will start from its own 27.

7:48: Here we go. Waipahu star linebacker Fiva Tulafale is back after missing last week’s game and is one of the four team captains for the coin toss. Waipahu wins the toss and will defer. Castle will receive to begin this game.

FIRST QUARTER


7:30 p.m.: The rematch of the 2018 OIA Division I championship game will have a slight delay to the scheduled 7:30 kickoff due to the JV game that ran late, which Waipahu won.

    Running backs run with authority tonight explode and get into the secondary and towards the end zone. Special teams hold on to that frickin ball.     Castle need to stop their senseless, selfish penalties. Their players need for understand how it affects the team. If the players don’t have consequences for these, they will continue. Probably no more any consequence and that’s why these penalties happen. No discipline in the players and also no aloha in their loud mouth fans who were cheering when a Waipahu player was down/injured. AUWE. https://images.app.goo.gl/bULxwdMTgikAX9jLA

    was one super long night for Castle when you give up 49 points, give up 223 passing yards, give up 351 rushing yards, have a player ejection, too many missed tackles (where’s the defense?!), penalties etc.
