RUSHING—Waianae: Rico Rosario 12-60, Justin Tacgere 1-0. Kahuku: Sol-Jay Maiava 3-32, Enoch Nawahine 9-28, Toalei Lefau 2-13, Wes Alo-Maiava 4-12, Thorton Alapa 1-10, team 2-(minus 28).
PASSING—Waianae: Tacgere 6-16–2-22. Kahuku: Maiava 4-21-1-76.

Red Raiders catch a break and will start on their 33. 2:59 to go in half. Third-and-13 and Maiava scrambles for 14 yards. That has been Kahuku’s best play in the first half. A pass interference on Waianae gives Kahuku a first down in Waianae territory with 1:39 to go. Maiava forces a ball into coverage and it’s picked off by Braiden Ayala, who returns it 83 yards to the Kahuku 11 with 29 seconds to go. Refs missed a face-mask penalty at the end that should have put the ball inside the 6. Seariders have to call their final timeout however. Fade to Mauga and it’s ripped out of his hands at the last second to save a TD. Fade on third down and Kaniho makes the INT.

Waianae with a 12-yard return on the punt and will start in Kahuku territory at the 43. LB Fatu Atuaia explodes through the line to tackle Rosario for no gain. Third-and-3. Third-and-7 on the 34 and a Waianae pick is called back by two penalties, one on each team, although an iffy PI call in my opinion. That looked like a great play. Third-and-7 again. Maiava forced to throw it away and it’s fourth down but some chippy play after the play ends and Waianae’s Zefften Avilla-Thompson throws a punch right in front of the referee. Everyone in the stadium was watching. Avilla-Thompson is ejected and it’s a first down Kahuku. Thorton Alapa in at QB and he runs a QB draw for 10. First-and-goal at the 9. Maiava back in and he throws high again. High snap goes for a loss of 23 as Maiava can only jump on top of the ball. Third-and-goal from the 32. Maiava with another overthrow by 10 yards and Kahuku goes from first-and-goal to punting.

Waianae ball on its 16. Tacgere has back-to-back passes dropped that should have gone for a first down and Waianae will punt.

Kahuku will face second-and-4 at the Waianae 39 to start second quarter. Two errant throws from Maiava who is now just 2-for-9 passing and Kahuku will punt.

Kahuku starts on its 20. Maiava scrambles on second down and has an open man but a textbook hit by Mauga jars the ball loose for an incomplete pass. Maiava has nobody open on third down but takes off for the marker and gets 9 yards and a first down. Lefau with an 11-yard run as Kahuku pops its first designed run for big yardage.

Ill-advised throw to the end zone is easily picked off by Nalu Emerson.

Jayce Gonsalves BLOCKS the punt and Waianae takes over on the Kahuku 16.

Maiava again high on a throw on third down and Kahuku is three-and-out. Seariders’ defensive front getting the job done early. Four carries for Kahuku RB Enoch Nawahine all go for 3 yards or less.

Seariders start on their 34. Rico Rosario makes his first appearance and takes his first carry up the middle for 15 yards. Third-and-3 and Waianae brings in David Feleti Jr. at fullback and he paves the way for Rosario to get 3. Rosario with his second run of 15 yards and Waianae is finding some holes. Rosario for 10 more to the 15. He looks fresh. Rosario with 52 rushing yards on his first six carries and Waianae is at the Kahuku 10. Seariders call timeout third-and-5 on the 10. Kaonohi Kaniho comes up to tackle Rosario at the 8 and save a first down. Waianae will go. Rosario stuffed for no gain. Turnover on downs.

Second play for Kahuku is a run fake and throw deep to Duke Heffernan for 43 yards. Fourth-and-7 at the Waianae 34. Deep drop for Maiava and his throw is high. Turnover on downs.

Kaluna Nihipali drops what could have been a pick-six on Waianae’s second play. Kaai Tamboan-Kaeo with a 5-yard reception on third down but he’s stopped short. Three plays — all passes — by the Waianae offense.

Kahuku wins the toss and will defer. Waianae will get the ball first.

Hawaii Prep World reporter, please give us the time at the beginning of each mini report, e.g. “2:59. Red Raiders catch a break and will start on their 33.”

  5. Billy Hull November 10, 2017 6:21 pm

    Can do.

  6. Heldor November 10, 2017 6:36 pm

Thanks, Billy. It’s easier to follow now. Nice job. I watched the semis at Aloha last Saturday but am following this from Canada.

  13. Billy Hull November 10, 2017 7:55 pm

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll be sure to always do it in the future. What a game!

  14. anywaaaays!! November 10, 2017 7:57 pm

that’s right! you guys are all dumb if you think Kahuku didn’t play this way on purpose. Makoa Freitas is smart. He didn’t want to give any game tape to Cal Lee so he had the team play very vanilla and keep it close so that St Lulu underestimates them. think before you open your mouth next time. RRFL!

  15. Dafun November 10, 2017 7:59 pm

    Lol!!! Right…

  16. Toomeke November 10, 2017 7:59 pm

Unreal game. Much respect to Waianae. You left it ALL on the field. Too bad had to be a loser.

    Two great Ds.

Big Red O needs to get back on track.

    RRFL.

  17. The Biggest Red November 10, 2017 8:01 pm

That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. If Kahuku was legit they wouldn’t care who had film on them. Legit teams only care about how they perform and execute.

Go back to Waialua you fraud, anywaaays.

  18. Knation November 10, 2017 8:01 pm

Hats off to waianae they played like champions!!! No excuses for kahuku and if they play they way they did they going get smash by either team.

  19. Hau'ulaBoy November 10, 2017 8:06 pm

Stupid anywaysssss. Waianae played a great game. Kahuku did not. Great job Waianae. That game was yours. Too bad. But that was a great ending for us Red Raider fans. Keep your heads up Waianae. Be proud of your effort.RR4L ._.

  20. Auwe November 10, 2017 8:09 pm

Some of my fellow red raider faithful can be delusional sometimes! Lol. Waianae gave kahuku all they could handle tonight! Hats off to them! Kahuku just came out lucky again tonight! The saying goes its better to be lucky then good! Good luck next week! Gonna need it more then ever!

  21. Choloropicrin November 10, 2017 8:35 pm

Waianae daughter their chances, they were in the red one twice. It was a hell of a game on both side.

  22. Tokotoko November 10, 2017 8:39 pm

Unreal game!! I have to admit, I thought Kahuku would have their way against the Seariders, but Waianae played their hearts out and left everything on the field. The Red Raiders seemed to struggle mightily to get any offensive rhythm going, but once again, when it really mattered, they were able to pull through. Good job Waianae, keep your heads up.

    Kahuku vs. ????

  23. Auwe November 10, 2017 9:36 pm

St lulu getting away with all kinds of holding lmao! Same as last time they played mill ville.

  24. Grabum.by.da.puppy November 10, 2017 10:54 pm

  25. Football Fan 99 November 10, 2017 11:57 pm

So Paul Honda exposed anywaaays in the other football thread. He said anywaaays is using 4 different usernames from the same IP address. Haha such a dork! Hahaha that’s so classic!

  26. Coach C November 11, 2017 4:09 am

5 different names? Dude that’s fraud. Guy must be a chronic!

  27. Leeboy November 11, 2017 6:33 am

88 is shinning the koa head for us next week. ST Louis don’t need game tapes to beat Kahuku.

  28. 88 November 11, 2017 6:43 am

Your right. They don’t need game tape they need Tua. By the way did you notice the OG’s hair last night? Need to ease up on the dye just a bit…..

  29. Leeboy November 11, 2017 9:52 am

    @ 88
Come on buddy, Chev is the right man for the job. Have fun stopping him.
