By Kyle Galdeira on February 28, 2015

The Interscholastic League of Honolulu wrestling championships are in the books after a full day’s worth of action at Punahou’s Hemmeter Fieldhouse. Kamehameha ran away with the girls title (192 points) after 10 of its wrestlers notched individual gold. Pac-Five (169) and Punahou (102) also turned in solid showings and remain threats going into the state tournament. […]

Kapolei, Campbell and Kaiser are the only schools with multiple top seeds in the boys competition while Kahuku has a slight edge in the girls with three thanks to the Alo sisters taking up the last two. Campbell and Roosevelt […]

Boys wrestling pound-for-pound, Feb. 26

By Jerry Campany on February 26, 2015

TThe top of the boys poll is still unchanged for now, but that just tightens the noose for those unfortunate enough to slip up and fall down the cliff. The tough part begins this weekend with league championships. Zack Diamond is still in the top spot, with Liam Corbett right behind his fellow OIA West champion. Chance Ikei and Tristan Ludiazo keep swapping spots, even though Ikei was inactive last week and Ludiazo continued his undefeated run with another clutch […]

Crunch time is here. Leagues will hold their individual championships on Saturday, wrestling with state spots on the line before Sunday’s seeding meeting. The top of Hawaiiprepworld.com’s pound-for-pound rankings remain unchanged, with Kamehameha junior Teshya Alo still solid in the top spot as she goes for her third ILH and state titles. No. 2 Lalelei Mataafa of Lahainaluna is just as much of a lock as Alo, and teammate Carly Jaramillo rounds out a top three filled with mulitple-time state […]
