The effort didn’t work. “It’s time after 15 years,” Lee told Hawaii Prep World on Saturday. LIVE BLOG: Girls wrestling semifinals

By Jerry Campany on February 20, 2016

We might not live blog the finals since it is on television anyway, but here is the road to the main event. Got a close race for the girls team title, Kamehameha leads defending champion Lahainaluna 101.5-97.5. Pearl City is way back in third at 57.5. The Warriors do not want it to come down to hoping Mataafa loses, because there is almost zero chance of that. I will try to update the top two team scores after every few […]

McKinley’s Higa recounts her 40 seconds vs. Alo

By Nick Abramo on February 19, 2016

MMcKinley’s Risa Higa was one of the unluckiest wrestlers at the first day of the state championships at Blaisdell Arena on Friday. Or was she somehow lucky? Well, as draws go, it wasn’t so good. After pinning Kauai’s Sierra Kalama in the first round at 132 pounds, Higa got to go up against one of the best wrestlers the state of Hawaii has seen — Kamehameha’s Teshya Alo, who had a first-round bye. Alo’s credentials are awesome. She is a […]
