Five Hawaii high school softball players from the class of 2016 signed national letters of intent to play for Hawaii Hilo and coach Peejay Brun. The five are Maryknoll first baseman Mylee Enos, Mililani outfielder Kristen Ishii, Moanalua catcher/infielder Brinell Kaleikini, Kamehameha second baseman Jordan Millwood, and Kauai shortstop Aleigha Scovel.

The OIA Softball Umpires Association is looking for umpires for the upcoming junior varsity season, which starts Sept. 5. Training and mentoring will be provided and varsity players are welcome to learn the rules and officiate. According to the association, umpires are “desperately needed” for the varsity season as well, which starts in February. A catalyst for the Mililani and Florida State softball programs in high school and college, Courtney Senas — now a rookie in National Pro Fastpitch — ignited a rally for the Pennsylvania Rebellion on Monday.
