By Christian Shimabuku on December 19, 2018

Gino Quinones and Ben Scott didn’t have a single FBS offer when both signing periods came and went as juniors. Then on April 16, Hawaii offered both of them. After big summers and stellar senior seasons, each signed pledges to Pac-12 schools on Wednesday at Saint Louis’ campus. Scott, who verbally committed to Arizona State in August, made it official after signing his letter of intent. Quinones signed with Southern California, his dream school, after committing in May. “It’s super […]

The future is just as bright for No. 1 Crusaders

By Christian Shimabuku on November 25, 2018

Since its inauguration in 2016, the HHSAA Open Division has known no other winner than Saint Louis. The Crusaders made history by winning their third consecutive state title with a 38-17 rout over Mililani that was not as close as the scoreboard indicated. Saint Louis (11-0) racked up 444 yards of total offense. Defenders were flying all over the field, never giving Trojan quarterback Dillon Gabriel room to breathe. It was clearly the most dominating win for the Crusaders during […]

VIDEO: Post-game, Saint Louis 3-peats with win over Mililani

By Paul Honda on November 25, 2018

The result was almost anticlimactic as No. 1 Saint Louis defeated second-seeded Mililani 38-17 for the Open Division title in the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships at Aloha Stadium on Saturday night. An air-tight defense stifled the potent Mililani offense, getting huge performances from CB Korvin Feagins (nine tackles, three interceptions, three deflections and one forced fumble) and LB Jordan Botelho (six tackles, 2.5 sacks, fumble recovery and 74-yard return for a TD). For head coach Cal Lee, this […]

Saint Louis runs the table again

By Billy Hull on November 25, 2018

From start to finish, nobody was better. The preseason unanimous No. 1-ranked Saint Louis Crusaders never budged from their top-dog status, running the table for the second consecutive year with a 38-17 win over Mililani on Saturday night to complete the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships at Aloha Stadium. Senior Korvin Feagins intercepted three passes and Saint Louis (11-0) sacked Mililani quarterback Dillon Gabriel nine times to close out a third consecutive Open Division state championship. The Crusaders are […]
