UPDATE: The game has been made official for 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Las Vegas. St. Thomas Aquinas has accepted an invitation to play against Saint Louis in the GEICO State Champions Bowl Series on Saturday, according to Chris Chun of the Hawaii High School Athletic Association. St. Thomas Aquinas won its 11th Florida state championship Saturday. The Raiders (14-0) from Fort Lauderdale rallied to beat Edgewater of Orlando 28-23 at Daytona Beach for the 7A title, according to the Sun-Sentinel in South Florida. The result is significant for Saint Louis (12-0). Saint Louis’ Jordan Botelho will not play in two bowl games

Saint Louis senior linebacker Jordan Botelho will not be playing in two upcoming nationally televised bowl games as originally planned, according to Crusaders coach Cal Lee. Botelho is ineligible to play in the GEICO State Champions Bowl Series and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl all-star game. Saint Louis quarterback Jayden de Laura was picked as the Gatorade Hawaii Football Player of the Year, the Gatorade Company announced today De Laura is the 12th Gatorade football honoree from the Crusaders. The award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field. Cal Lee wasn’t feeling well for a little while before the state Open Division championship game on Nov. 29. He missed the news conference three days before Saint Louis’ 45-6 victory over Kahuku.
