Ex-Baldwin coach Kauhaahaa at OSU

The Oregonian reported on Tuesday that former Baldwin coach Chad Kauhaahaa has moved from Wisconsin to Oregon State, following his head coach, Gary Andersen. Baldwin transformed into an MIL football dynasty during Kauhaahaa’s years there. Maui ended the Bears’ stranglehold on D-I MIL football this year. Kalani Sitake left Utah to become OSU’s defensive coordinator. Sitake and Kahaahaa have recruited the islands extensively over the years.

Punahou WR Noa commits to Cal

California Golden Blogs has reported today that Punahou wide receiver Kanawai Noa has committed to play for the University of California. Noa caught 58 passes for 1,113 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior. He also returned two punts and one kickoff for TDs. He was a Star-Advertiser All-State first-team selection as a junior. The 2014 All-State team will be published on Christmas Day.

Ulu-Perry: 110 percent for UCLA

Saint Louis offensive lineman Fred Ulu-Perry hasn’t wavered in his early commitment to UCLA. The 6-foot-2,5, 295-pound left tackle committed to UCLA before his senior year began. “I’m a UCLA commit, 110 percent,” he texted on Monday night. But that doesn’t mean Ulu-Perry is staying land-locked. In January, he plans to visit Texas A&M, Colorado and UH. He also has a scholarship offer from Texas Tech. Punahou’s Trifonovitch offered by UH

Punahou senior Alex Trifonovitch has been offered an opportunity to play football for the University of Hawaii. Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance announced the news on Monday night. Trifonovitch was Punahou’s starting punter and backup placekicker. Both he and starting PK Jon Toner have touchback range on kickoffs. Trifonovitch averaged 40 yards per punt in two state-tournament games this fall.

San Diego State offers Punahou LB Lakalaka

Punahou linebacker Ronley Lakalaka has received a scholarship offer from San Diego State. Pacific Island Athletic Alliance made the news public this morning. Lakalaka, a 6-foot, 210-pound senior, was part of a stellar defense that helped Punahou win the ILH championship and reach the state tournament final. Lakalaka, younger brother of University of Hawaii running back Steven Lakalaka, also plays basketball for the Buffanblu. Former Mililani defensive end/tight end Dakota Turner is a redshirt freshman defensive lineman for SDSU.

Texas Tech joins battle for Auwae, Savea

A busy December is going into warp speed for Kapolei offensive lineman Viliamu Auwae. The 6-foot-6, 275-pound senior will be en route to Texas this weekend to play in the Blue-Gray All-American game. The game will be played on Sunday in AT&T Stadium in Arlington. He heads right home after that. Finals week is right on the heels of his 7,552-mile round trip (more or less). Big Island Senior Bowl releases rosters

The Life Champion Senior Bowl, operated by Hawaii Football Club, released its roster for the Dec. 6 exhibition game today. The roster is filled with seniors from across the islands, including Oahu. The teams have not been determined yet, but the birth of this exhibition is a relief for ILH and OIA players who had been looking forward to the annual HUB Goodwill Senior Bowl.
