UH jumps on Eletise train

The University of Hawaii is the latest school to offer Kaiser offensive lineman Michael Eletise a football scholarship. Eletise’s father, Nofo, confirmed on Wednesday night that his son received an offer from UH earlier in the day. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound junior also has offers from Colorado, Texas Tech and Arizona State. The offer from ASU was the most recent one until UH’s offer. Waianae had patience to start Thursday’s game against Radford, but it didn’t last. The Seariders waited until their teammates got open in the early going in the 51-31 loss at the Rams’ gym, but by the second half, Waianae was giving up possessions left and right. Lakalaka commits to San Diego State

Punahou’s Ronley Lakalaka has given an oral commitment to San Diego State University. Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance shared the news on Friday morning. Lakalaka, a 6-foot, 210-pound outside linebacker, was an All-State second-team selection. He is currently on the Punahou Division I basketball team and also competes in track and field. He is the younger brother of Hawaii running back Steven Lakalaka.

Two time Star-Advertiser first teamer Solomon Matautia is staying home. Matautia, a safety from Campbell, switched from Oregon State to Hawaii according to his Twitter account. Ole Miss is the latest suitor — and the first from the SEC — in pursuit of Saint Louis quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance (PIAA) shared the news on Wednesday about the 6-foot-1, 190-pound sophomore. Tagovailoa also has offers from UCLA, Texas Tech, Hawaii, USC and Colorado. Kahuku senior Tuli Wily-Matagi announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he has changed his college commitment and will instead attend Oregon State over Utah. “I’ve decided to flip my commitment over to Oregon State,” he wrote on Twitter. “Want to thank everyone who supported me through this decision. #GoBeavs” Wily-Matagi threw for 1,242 yards and 10 touchdowns and ran for 277 yards and four scores last season, and he led Kahuku to a 9-3 record and an OIA Red division […]
