Right about the time that the lights were going out at Aloha Stadium during Saint Louis’ 28-0 victory over Kahuku, there were some records being set in far away Nanakuli on Saturday night. Two Pearl City Chargers achieved school records during a 35-34 overtime loss to Nanakuli in a rugged, hard-hitting Division II showdown. Nuts, kooky, crazy. Take your pick. Nanakuli whooped it up in the locker room after a 35-34 dramatic overtime victory over Pearl City on Saturday night in the proud valley. The Golden Hawks had the biggest lead of the game at 12-0 before Pearl City came back for a 14-12 edge. There was a 20-all tie, and again a 28-all scoreboard showing. And then came the OT. Pearl City’s offensive game plan was ineffective in the first half Friday against visiting Kalaheo. The ground-and-pound approach, led by running back Alii Gaspar, did the trick in the second.
