Kaiser linebacker Parker Su‘a Higgins has received a football scholarship offer from UNLV this morning. This is the first offer for Higgins. Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance shared the news on its Facebook page. The 6-foot, 215-pound senior was a staple of Kaiser’s tough defensive unit last season. UNLV’s new coaching staff isn’t wasting time. The Rebels made a football scholarship offer to Kaiser junior Michael Eletise this morning. It is the 24th offer from a BCS university for the 6-foot-4, 204-pound offensive lineman. It wouldn’t be a normal day anymore unless a BCS university offered an island player a football scholarship. That’s no exaggeration, not since the winter and, now, spring season. Kahuku’s losses mount: Avea transfers

Kahuku sophomore Samuta Avea, a two-sport varsity athlete with a big future, is going to be a big star one day. It just won’t be at Kahuku. Reports from the North Shore have circulated, and the 6-foot-4 basketball and football player is moving to Utah. He will transfer to Bingham High School. Kammerer is new Kahuku interim football coach

James Kammerer is the interim varsity football coach at Kahuku, a source close to the situation told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and Hawaii Prep World on Tuesday. Kammerer is the head JV football coach for the Red Raiders. A 2002 Kakuhu graduate, he was a Honolulu Star-Bulletin second-team All-State wide receiver in 2001. (UPDATE, 7:05 p.m. Utah came in with an offer, making it two offers today for Tua Tagovailoa.) The Pac-12 Conference can’t seem to resist the immense talent of Saint Louis sophomore quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Arizona and Utah are the 10th and 11th universities, respectively, to offer a football scholarship to the southpaw. Seven of the offers come from Pac-12 schools. Coach Leslie thanks Kahuku via video

Coach Lee Leslie will always remember his short time as the Kahuku football head man. He thanks everyone involved with the program “from the bottom of my heart” in this video from his home in Idaho.
