Kammerer is new Kahuku interim football coach

James Kammerer is the interim varsity football coach at Kahuku, a source close to the situation told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and Hawaii Prep World on Tuesday.

Kammerer is the head JV football coach for the Red Raiders. A 2002 Kakuhu graduate, he was a Honolulu Star-Bulletin second-team All-State wide receiver in 2001.

The school is accepting applications for its varsity and JV football head coaching positions through Friday, April 3.

Lee Leslie, who led the Red Raiders to a 9-3 season in which they advanced to the state D-I semifinals, resigned to go back to his family in Idaho. He spent only one season at Kahuku after taking over Reggie Torres, who was not rehired for the 2014 season.
