Doug Cosbie is in his third season as the Kamehameha Warriors football head coach. The Warriors went 9-2 in 2013 and 5-3 in 2014. In scrimmages so far this season, Kamehameha, as usual, appears ready to contend for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I title. The Saint Louis Crusaders, under coach Cal Lee, will be trying to improve on their second-place finish in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu of a year ago. Lee, who won 14 Oahu Prep Bowl titles and one state championship in his second incarnation as the Crusaders’ coach from 1982 to 2001, is in his second year in his return as head coach of the team. Leilehua’s athletic teams may lose two days of practice with the school announcing temporary closure due to the potential threat of a brush fire. On Monday afternoon, Mules football coach Nolan Tokuda cancelled practice due to the smoke generated by the fire. Waianae’s Tanielu commits to Utah

Fourteen schools came calling, but only one got defensive tackle Handsome Tanielu‘s oral commitment. The 6-foot-2, 310-pound Tanielu, who graduated from Waianae in 2010 and played most recently for Snow College in Utah, committed to the Utah Utes last Tuesday, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
