Popular recruiting site Scout.com released its first high school football top-50 rankings of the season on Monday and not a single Hawaii team was listed. It’s much different from the MaxPreps.com computer rankings that list Mililani (No. 8), Saint Louis (35) and Punahou (49) all in its top 50. De La Salle (Calif.) and Bishop Gorman (Nev.) hold down the top two spots in the Scout.com rankings. Seven of the top 50 schools are from California, including Centennial (No. 9) […]
Stokes Botelho‘s punt return/fumble recovery return for Kahuku on Friday was nominated for national play of the week by CBS MaxPreps media manager Jim Stout. On the fourth-quarter play that you can watch here: http://t.maxpreps.com/1Lw6lNG, Botelho takes a Kaiser punt and begins to return it. He fumbles and the football takes on Ping-Pong characteristics, with players seemingly recovering it, only to let the ball slip away. Up and down the field the ball goes until it emerges into the hands […]
There will be no fee to attend tonight’s restarted game between No. 8 Kapolei and No. 10 Kailua at Alex Kane Stadium at 6 p.m. according to OIA football coordinator Harold Tanaka. The game was postponed with 5:52 remaining in the first quarter on Saturday due to lightning. Heavy rain and flash flooding have caused problems statewide Monday morning, but Kapolei coach Darren Hernandez texted the Star-Advertiser’s Billy Hull, “the only thing that will stop (the game) will be lightning.” […]
Mililani, Hawaii’s top-ranked high school football team, stopped Oahu Interscholastic Association Blue rival Campbell 49-21 on Thursday, but still fell two spots in the MaxPreps national computer rankings released Sunday. Both Saint Louis, a 55-6 winner over Fagaitua of American Samoa, and idle Punahou dropped seven spots, but are still in the top 50. Farrington, by virtue of its 52-8 rout of ‘Iolani, got some extra love this week in the rankings and moved up 622 spots to No. 373. […]

On Saturday, Konawaena of BIIF D-II tripped Kauai High of the Kauai Interscholastic Federation, 32-7, at Vidinha Stadium on the Garden Island. The Wildcats are 2-0. Idle Kapaa of the KIF is also […]
The Liberty Patriots, who will face two huge Hawaii football tests in consecutive weeks, have a bunch of Hawaii kids and coaches on the roster. The team from Henderson, Nev., flies to Hawaii this week to prepare for its season-opening game against No. 2 Saint Louis (1-0) on Saturday at Aloha Stadium, and then will return home to get ready for No. 1 Mililani (2-0), which will visit the suburb of Las Vegas for a Sept. 4 game. The list […]
