No Hawaii teams in Scout.com Top 50

Popular recruiting site Scout.com released its first high school football top-50 rankings of the season on Monday and not a single Hawaii team was listed. It’s much different from the MaxPreps.com computer rankings that list Mililani (No. 8), Saint Louis (35) and Punahou (49) all in its top 50. Botelho’s recovery/return goes national

Stokes Botelho‘s punt return/fumble recovery return for Kahuku on Friday was nominated for national play of the week by CBS MaxPreps media manager Jim Stout. Kailua/Kapolei game still on; free admission

There will be no fee to attend tonight’s restarted game between No. 8 Kapolei and No. 10 Kailua at Alex Kane Stadium at 6 p.m. according to OIA football coordinator Harold Tanaka. The game was postponed with 5:52 remaining in the first quarter on Saturday due to lightning. Heavy rain and flash flooding have caused problems statewide Monday morning, but Kapolei coach Darren Hernandez texted the Star-Advertiser’s Billy Hull, “the only thing that will stop (the game) will be lightning.” […]

Trojans drop to No. 8 in nation; Govs rise

Mililani, Hawaii’s top-ranked high school football team, stopped Oahu Interscholastic Association Blue rival Campbell 49-21 on Thursday, but still fell two spots in the MaxPreps national computer rankings released Sunday. Both Saint Louis, a 55-6 winner over Fagaitua of American Samoa, and idle Punahou dropped seven spots, but are still in the top 50. Weekend No. 3 finally complete

The final two games of Weekend No. 3 in Hawaii high school football were finally completed on Monday after being partially played on Saturday and postponed due to lightning storms. In the two games, No. 8 Kailua defeated visiting No. 7 Kapolei 20-6, and Waialua held on for a 27-23 win at Pearl City. Scores from all 23 games in Hawaii during Weekend No. 3 follow. 3 Neighbor Islands teams undefeated

Three teams from the Neighbor Islands are among the state’s undefeated teams after games last weekend. All three teams play in the Division II ranks. Kamehameha-Hawaii of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation improved to 3-0 with a 38-14 home nonconference victory over Division I Waiakea on Thursday. Liberty FB team has major Hawaii connection

The Liberty Patriots, who will face two huge Hawaii football tests in consecutive weeks, have a bunch of Hawaii kids and coaches on the roster. The team from Henderson, Nev., flies to Hawaii this week to prepare for its season-opening game against No. 2 Saint Louis (1-0) on Saturday at Aloha Stadium, and then will return home to get ready for No. 1 Mililani (2-0), which will visit the suburb of Las Vegas for a Sept. 4 game.
