Popular recruiting site Scout.com released its first high school football top-50 rankings of the season on Monday and not a single Hawaii team was listed.
It’s much different from the MaxPreps.com computer rankings that list Mililani (No. 8), Saint Louis (35) and Punahou (49) all in its top 50.
De La Salle (Calif.) and Bishop Gorman (Nev.) hold down the top two spots in the Scout.com rankings. Seven of the top 50 schools are from California, including Centennial (No. 9) and St. John Bosco (No. 12). Bosco visited Aloha Stadium last season and beat Saint Louis 63-14.
Liberty (Nev.) High, which plays Saint Louis on Saturday at Aloha Stadium and then hosts Mililani next Friday, was not ranked.
Only 15 of the 50 teams have even started their seasons and only one (No. 26 Ocean Lakes of Virginia) has played more than one game. Most teams in Hawaii have already played two or three games.
Hmmm, I wonder why the trojans haven’t cracked the the scout.com top 50. Maybe cause Red Raiders and the Govs proved that decent D can slow down the trojan O? Maybe….
