Noa’s radiance shows in Kamehameha’s loss

By Nick Abramo on October 1, 2015

Kumoku Noa is not being recruited by colleges. “No.” That was his answer, when asked near the South end zone at Aloha Stadium shortly after No. 5 Kamehameha’s 51-36 loss to No. 2 Saint Louis on Thursday night at Aloha Stadium. The 6-foot, 180-pound senior wide receiver had just caught nine passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. It’s possible that colleges don’t know what kind of talent Noa has. He did it against one of the […]

By Billy Hull on October 1, 2015

The second round of the ILH season gets underway tonight with a critical game for both No. 2 Saint Louis and No. 5 Kamehameha. The loser isn’t eliminated from the ILH race but let’s just put it this way: the loser is in real trouble. Saint Louis won the first meeting 31-27 but was shut out in the second half by the Warriors, who lost sophomore QB Thomas Yam late in the fourth quarter on a controversial hit by Saint […]

Kahuku’s Ameperosa, Ah-Hoy cleared to play

By Nick Abramo on October 1, 2015

Kahuku senior running back Sefa Ameperosa missed last Friday’s 63-0 victory over Waipahu due to a sprained ankle he suffered in practice last week. Ameperosa, however, has been cleared to play for the Red Raiders (7-0, 6-0) in Saturday’s Oahu Interscholastic Association first-place battle at Aloha Stadium against Waianae (6-1, 6-0). Ameperosa has not been practicing this week as a precaution, according to Kahuku offensive coodinator John Hao. Ameperosa was on crutches last week so he could stay off the […]

By Billy Hull on October 1, 2015

It’s a rivalry, no doubt. A rivalry that has been dominated for over a decade by the guys from the North Shore. Kahuku and Waianae meet Saturday night at Aloha Stadium with the OIA Red division championship at stake. Two storied programs that have remained true to what they’ve always been about, smashmouth football at its finest. First-year coach Walter Young has done a great job coming back from a season-opening 20-point loss to Kamehameha to run the table through […]

By Nick Abramo on September 30, 2015

Mililani football head coach Rod York told Hawaii Prep World on Wednesday night that he brought up freshman Dillon Gabriel from the junior varsity team to the varsity this week. The move was made after three-year starter and last year’s Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State first-team quarterback McKenzie Milton injured his right, throwing shoulder early in last Saturday’s 45-21 win over Kailua. Backup Kaysen Higa‘s first 10 passes were incomplete against the Surfriders, but he settled down to finish 9-for-23 for 223 […]

By Nick Abramo on September 29, 2015

Mililani standout wide receiver Kalakaua Timoteo returned to practice with the Trojans on Monday and will be ready to play in the team’s regular-season finale at Moanalua on Friday, according to head coach Rod York. Timoteo sat out Mililani’s 45-21 victory over Kailua last week that clinched the OIA Blue championship and a bye in the first round of the league playoffs. He suffered a sprained ankle at practice on the Monday preceding the game against the Surfriders. A 6-foot-2, […]
