Hawaii is first to offer Punahou’s Kapule

Punahou quarterback Nick Kapule received his first Division I scholarship offer on Sunday from Hawaii. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior tweeted the news. Seabury Hall gains home field for playoff

Seabury Hall visited Lanai and got past the Pine Lads 38-28 in a Maui Interscholastic League 8-man football game on Saturday. The Spartans (2-1) will host the Pine Lads (1-2) in the league semifinals next week. Molokai (4-0) is awaiting the winner of that game on the following week for the MIL 8-man championship. Ka‘u pulls ahead in BIIF 8-man football

Ka‘u traveled to Pahoa and defeated the Daggers 20-14 on Thursday in a Big Island Interscholastic Association 8-man football game. The Trojans (3-2) broke a three-way tie for first place in the three-team league. Pahoa dropped to 2-3. Kohala (2-2) was idle, but will play the two other teams over the next two weeks. Honokaa upsets tourney-bound Waiakea

Honokaa hit the .500 mark on the season by upsetting Waieakea 28-27 on the road Saturday. The Dragons (4-4, 3-4) won’t be playing in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II postseason and is done for the season. Despite the loss, the Warriors (3-7, 3-4) will be playing against Hilo (7-1, 7-0) in the BIIF’s D-I championship game next weekend. Both teams have secured D-I state-tournament berths. Kapaa rallies to beat Waimea, clinch KIF

Kapaa stormed back from a 12-point deficit to beat Waimea 15-12 at Hanapepe Stadium on Saturday to take its third straight Kauai Interscholastic Federation football championship. In recent weeks, the Warriors (7-1, 5-1) were struggling, having just squeaked by Waimea 3-0 on Sept. 24 and losing to Kauai High 20-17 on Oct. 8. Baldwin and Maui chasing MIL D-I FB title

Both Baldwin and Maui won games over the weekend, so the Maui Interscholastic League Division I football championship is still up for grabs. The Bears (7-2, 7-0) outlasted MIL D-I champion Lahainaluna 19-13 on Saturday to improve to 3-0 in the league’s second round. In the first-round Baldwin took honors with a 4-0 mark. What a game! In case you missed it, Waianae held off Mililani 36-33 in the OIA quarterfinals at John Kauinana Stadium on Saturday night. Game of the year in this book. The Seariders bulldozed to a 23-point, 29-6 halftime lead before Mililani buckled down on defense in the second half and came up with crucial stops to halt the Seariders in their tracks. State Open and D-I football teams set (almost)

All six of the state’s first Open division football tournament spots have been secured. The highly anticipated event starts the weekend of Nov. 4-5. In addition, seven of the eight teams who will play in the Division I tournament have also qualified. Only two of the six teams in Division II have secured state berths.
