Kapaa rallies to beat Waimea, clinch KIF

Kapaa stormed back from a 12-point deficit to beat Waimea 15-12 at Hanapepe Stadium on Saturday to take its third straight Kauai Interscholastic Federation football championship.

In recent weeks, the Warriors (7-1, 5-1) were struggling, having just squeaked by Waimea 3-0 on Sept. 24 and losing to Kauai High 20-17 on Oct. 8.

Now, Kapaa will be playing in its third straight Division II state tournament. The Warriors lost 30-16 in the tourney final a year ago.
